Ah problem solved. I can upload larger files with UploadFileAsych, I simply needed to override the default setting of 4mb in the system.web section of my web.config by setting this:
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="10240" >
Here is the kb if anyone is interested.:

Using "classic" ASP
I want to retrieve properties of a HTML element with vbscript. This is what I've tried, but it generates a "Object required" error:
<form id="spanForm" name="spanForm" action="#">
<input id="screenSpanWidth" name="screenSpanWidth" type="hidden" />
</form>
<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>
document.forms['spanForm'].screenSpanWidth.value = var_nScreenWidth.toString();
</script>
<%
Dim nUserScreenWidth
nUserScreenWidth = Document.forms.namedItem("spanForm").screenSpanWidth.value '<--error here
%>
I've verified that the value is in fact being set (via firebug), but when I run the asp page, I get the "object required" error.

hey guys, this is most likely the wrong place, and i know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about html / forum code and what not. any ways, im trying to format my user name(with color, subscrpt, etc), and im trying this :
V[sub]on[/sub]H[sub]ag[/sub]ND[sub]az[/sub]
apparently my attempts mess up the layout in the soapbox, and i cant fix it by changing my name back
am i using the wrong codes? and if so, where are the correct codes for me to mess around with?

It would be nice if you deleted the posts you made using the corrupt user name, since the last one in the SB seems to have corrupted the thread and its predecessor thread. In the future, it would be more polite to do your testing on your own profile message board first...
Use of HTML in usernames has caused nothing but trouble in the past, and IMO is not justified except in support of non-english spelling. I would vote for it being banned entirely.

slow down buddy... i checked the preview, it looked fine, no crashes, i post once in the SB and all hell broke loose. i couldnt respond, i couldnt delete, i could do nothing... if i could delete them, i would; however, i cant see anything from that thread down...

Stream it as a download and let the user save it to an appropriate location.

Give instructions to the user.
Alternatively, have a setup bundle the DLL and register and download the setup to the client machine.

Hi
I would like to get the C# equvalent of the javascript code
escape(document.referrer);
This is supposed to return a string value I will use for user monitoring.
Thank you

Is that what you want?
Dim temp As String =Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER")<br />
Dim prevPage As String =Right(temp, Len(temp) -InstrRev(temp, "/"))
Ref: What’s the Previous Page? - HTTP Referer

Thank you for the response
I found it the C# equivalent is:
Request.UrlReferrer.ToString();

Hi
I am a student and making a final project on web development. I am stucked in one propblem, that is how to give my website its own email id like info@housedecoration.com
I am using vb.net and Asp.net,so please can anyone help me out, My supervisor is out of country

AFAIK, you can only have that kinda Email Id when you owned this domain..
For example, I owned one domain name called "http://michaelsync.net". So, I can create any Email address like info@michaelsync.net or blabla@michaelsync.net.
So, If you are sure that you own this website "http://housedecoration", you can create the id that (info@housedecoration.com) you want.
It's not about programming languages (eg: VB.NET or ASP.NET)
Hope it helps.

I've got a PC Program that has a synchronize form which calls a web service to get data updates from our servers. This is working good for all but one user who gets this exception when trying to call the webservice method:
The remove server returned an error (500) internal server error
Since no one else is having this problem, I'm assuming it a setting on the user's machine or some setting through their internet provider. Does anyone have any ideas of what can cause this error or where I could even start in trying to figure it out?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Normally when I have issues with a web service the first thing I do is try to access it in a web browser from the problem PC. So if you type in the url including the asmx file you should get a page back depending on how you set up your web service. If you can see the webservice in the brower it should work with your app.
My best guess without more info is that your webservice is perhap only internally DNS on your local intranet. Since it doesn't have an External DNS an outside user can't get to it, but that is pretty much a complete guess.

Thanks for taking the time to consider my problem.
Unfortunately, I am not able to recreate the problem that this particular user has. And I am able to access the web service via a web browser just fine. I haven't asked the user if he can, but I didn't see how the answer to that would help me. I figured it would give me the same error message, but I suppose it is worth a try.
I know that the webservice is not just on the local intranet, because other users have been able to access it without problems. That is why this is so confusing, I thought everything was working just fine and now I have this one user who is having problems and I can't figure out what is different between his computer and everyone else who has been able to get access. The only thing I can think of is that the user has dial-up internet access provided by Earthlink. Would they have some kind of security or setting that would prevent a webservice from working?
Again, thanks for your help. If you have any other ideas or advice please let me know.

You are right about they will probably be the same error, but at least then you know for sure it is some sort of DNS issue. I am not totally sure how it works with dial-up, but I am pretty sure it works the same, anyway, you could manually point your url to the correct IP address by updating their local hosts file. Before you do that you could try accessing the url with an IP address instead of a name. If that works then you might just be able to update your configuration file, I am assuming your web service url is in a config file.
Hope that helps.

By the way, if the web browser does work, it might be a rights thing. If your appliction is marked as partially trusted then your app would not have rights to access the internet.
