can any one plz help me out of this problem.

Actually I used the below code to export to excel sheet from datagird,but this is not working if I apply Paging to the Grid.

Response.ClearContent()
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename= newname.xls")
Response.ContentType = "application/excel"

Dim sw As New System.IO.StringWriter
Dim hsw As New System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter(sw)

GridView1.RenderControl(hsw)
Response.Write(sw.ToString)
Response.End()

is there any faster way of exporting to excel sheet .The one above is really faster because it exports it directly from the grid.

Plz help me out of this ASAP.

i am writing the following code

It shows the following error.
Error 1 'validation' is not a member of 'ASP.waste_aspx'.
Error 2 Character is not valid.

If you are using ASP.NET 2.0, replace onclick with onclientclick. If your version is 1.1, the go with attributes.add("OnClick","function();").

If you specify onclick like what you specified now, ASP.NET will think it is a server side function and will look for it's references that leads to the error.

Your best solution is here.

Use OnClientClick instead of OnClick event

i.e
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" OnClientClick="return validation();" />

and Javascript

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function validation()
{
if(document.Form1.textbox1.value=="")
{
alert("please fill it");
return false;
}
}
</script>
