Hey all,
I have several projects that I want to complete that involve USB devices. I was wondering if there is any generic way to grab the output and input to any USB device.
I'm not looking for anything too clean, just something that works for the moment, as I will spend time adjusting the method to my various projects.
At any rate, is there a generic way to access the output and input of any USB device in windows? (or even just grab the output?)
thanks,

No, there isn't.
Anyway, try to post your question to the Hardware forum.

Thanks Nemanja Trifunovic - for that useful link.

Hi,
I need to search for hard coded strings from the VC++ 6 / VC++.Net 2003 source code.
Is there any tool for this?
Is there any criteria to define the search for this?

Hi DavidCrow,
Long back I have received many usefull replies from you regarding VC++ 6 (MFC) programming. Thanks for that.
I don't know what's wrong or great with IDE. Just started using the .Net 2003.
I just wanted the information regarding finding an easy way to search for all the hard coded strings from the source code instead of manual search or search using (").

May be you have see the Process Explorer[^] from sysinternals. In that tool take the properties of an exe, there will be a tab called string. All items list in that are strings used in your application.

Thanks Naveen.
It was useful for my code investigation.
From this tool I was able to see all the strings from my application EXE.

I included windows media player control successfully, but now I am getting problem with that. I am not able to play movie inside that. It does not resond to any of its functions like SetFileName, SetEnabled,Play. Its buttons doesnot activate. All of its buttons remain inactive.
My friend has used it very well in VC++

Where are you getting these "functions" from?

I think there is another function called SetURL(). call that function instead of the SetFileName().

I got my answer through another forum, My approach and functions where right,my control seems to be not installed correctly because same code worked fine on another machine.

It's available on Vista+.
I thought I heard something about it being with .NET 3.x as well but I could have dreamed it
No, you can't redistribute it.

I am porting a COM object from VC6.0 to Visual Studo 2005 and I get the following error:
error C2011: 'spcADO::CursorTypeEnum' : 'enum' type redefinition
The reason for this is that the file msado15.tlh gets generated in the DebugU directory AND the project directory.
Any idea how I can solve this?
Thanks,
Jerome

Strange, #import doesn't generally do this. Have you tried quitting VS, removing the tlh/tli files, and doing a clean and build?

Yes it was weird - I tried that indeed but it did not work.
I think it was caused by the fact that two cpp files had the same name. For some unknown reason, the obj files were generated incorrectly. I removed them from the project and re-added and it now works. Touch wood!
Thanks for your help anyway!

Handle the NM_CUTOME draw message and put the following code inside it.
void TreeCtrlEx::OnCustomDraw( NMHDR* pNMHDR_i, LRESULT* pResult_o )
{
NMTVCUSTOMDRAW* pLVCD = reinterpret_cast<nmtvcustomdraw *="">( pNMHDR_i );
NMCUSTOMDRAW &nMcd = pLVCD->nmcd;
*pResult_o = CDRF_DODEFAULT;
switch( nMcd.dwDrawStage )
{
case CDDS_PREPAINT:
// Item prepaint notification.
*pResult_o = CDRF_NOTIFYITEMDRAW;
break;
case CDDS_ITEMPREPAINT:
{
// Set the color of the text according to its state.
HTREEITEM nRow = reinterpret_cast< HTREEITEM >( nMcd.dwItemSpec );
if( CDIS_SELECTED == ( nMcd.uItemState & CDIS_SELECTED ))
{
pLVCD->clrText = clrSelText;// Selected text color
pLVCD->clrTextBk = clrSelBk;// Selceted backgroung
}
else
{
pLVCD->clrText = clrNormal;// text color in normal state
pLVCD->clrTextBk = clrBk// bakck ground color in normal state
}
// Allow it to do the default painting.
*pResult_o = CDRF_DODEFAULT;
break;
}
default:
*pResult_o = CDRF_DODEFAULT;
break;
}
}
