Ello All
I am in the process of developing a ASP.Net 2.0 Ajax project, and I need to extract data from a database into an array, where I then can populate (true/false)from the array into many check boxes.
I know its simple but for some reason I just can't come up with the answer, it must be old age  .
Anyway thank you all for any help that you provide!!!

You can return your data as a string with a pipe "|" separated list to the script, then use the following code to declare a array:
JAVASCRIPT
var arrItems = (data.value).split('|');
Then refer it using arrItems[0],arrItems[1],etc

Bit of a tall order that. What have you done so far? What code have you implemented?

I think he actually got a job on RAC doing this. Now that he's in way over his head, he might need someone to bail him out! Any volunteers??? Nope. I didn't think so.

From what I've seen around there, I think you're right. There's so much underbidding by so many people who don't know what they're doing, it's silly. Even the "teams" of programmers underbid. How the hell do any of these idiots expect to make money when each team member only gets about US$5 to US$10 on delivery??

because we're doing the coding ? I don't know, but it's insane, that's for sure. And, the people who bid on those jobs, are also morons. I know, I did some RAC work for a while, thinking that doing some low paid work would help me to get well paid work, and the people we worked for were as clueless as the people bidding $20 for a project.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I've never bid on a job at RAC, and probably never will, because of that.

I also thought of that, but then thought of "How is the employeer who might pay me more going to verify any kind of work I did on an RAC project??" 
I've got a couple of old friends around that I've dug up who do some work like this, but on word of mouth. I've been working with them on some of their projects for their clients. Nothing that would amount to full time coding though, but it helps pay the bills.

First off - if you want help, you need to phrase things with a bit more respect for your target audience. Stating "urgent pay attention" in the subject line is a good way to get flamed. Just because it's urgent for you doesn't mean that it's even going to make it into my top 100 urgent things to do today.
Second, read my comments:

What have you done with the problem so far? You aren't going to get somebody feeding you information if you can't show that you've thought about the problem. You need to show that you have tried to help yourself first.

I skimmed through it and I'm glad it's out there. But considering half these people are not using GOOGLE I suspect that they won't take the time to read the guidelines. Now, if I wrote something like that, it would not be as polite...

Hello,
I have been looking examples of how to create an A-Z grouped index page from a list of data. This index page will contain a hyperlinked list of letters of the alphabet a,b,c...z that link to HTML "a name" tags within the same page. These links will that point to the correct letter of the alphabet which will correspond to the correct alphabetically grouped subset of data. This is a common feature on many sites and I'm sure this problem has been solved many times, it just that I think I am searching using the wrong keywords. This solution would likely include some combination of repeaters and/or datalists, and possibly a custom pager.
My list currently contains about 1000 items that I pull from a SQL table. I'd like to only hit the database once to grab the list of data if possible.
This is hard to articulate, let me try to explain this with an example:
There is an A-Z index on the top of the page (and maybe on the bottom) like this:
A, B, C.....Z
(if a user clicks the C, they are redirected to the names in the list that start with a C
A

abc
abe
about
...
B
=
ball
barge
bat
...
C <-- user is directed here when they click on the C in the A-Z index above)

car
cat
cave

You could do this in many ways. I suggest nested repeater controls. One repeater control get one record for each heading A, B, C. In each item template add another repearter with your details. That ought to be really easy, which part are you stuck on?
Really it should be quite simple. You can use HTML Tables, Repearter, GridView etc...
Here is a some sample code to create a dataset for you. I'm assuming you know how to get a dataTable from the database. You have to right write your own code for that.

Thanks for the reply.
I know I could iterate through my parent and child datatables but that seems like "brute force". I was hoping that there was a more elegant approach using built-in databinding. Or maybe way to configure 2 repeaters or datalists with a custom pager to accomplish this.
I will try the brute force method and see where I get. If anyone else has a another alternative, please let me know.
