I am planning to use the new feature of ASP.Net 2.0 in my one of new website and i am doing analysis to see capablities of these new features.
I have a quick query and it would be nice if you can show me some direction.
I am planning to implement memebership API for creating user, validating user, etc... but i don't want to use SQL Express Database (whiich comes with ASP.net) because of security reason. I am planning to use SQL 2005. So what i need to do....Do i need to create same tables in my SQL 2005 database (same name, same columns etc...) or i can have custom tables.

You have plenty of time to look up DataSet.Merge() and DataTable.Merge() then.
only two letters away from being an asset

Can you tell us the tables and columns? I'm sure you can accomplish this with SQL instead of DataSet.Merge. What kind of column are you trying to add in addition to the other data?

Hi,
You can try with following short ways.
1. Try combine required fields of different table to get single datatable.
2. Create different datatable and merge all with one dataset.

Use a requirefield validator control and specify the client script
only two letters away from being an asset

hello hemant,
just use the Javascript,it is best for the client side validation
Hemant Garg wrote: i'm checking the input text to be "yes"
write the function and check ,
function ChkInput()
{
if (document.GetElementById("TextboxName").value == "yes")
{
alert("Exist")
return false;
}
}
and call that function on click event of button
hope it helps,

You can't open a file on the client computer from the server. The user has to upload the file to the server for the server to access the file data.

what exactly you want to do...
As i belive you are trying to read a file from your virtual dir.
Provide correct relative path. because system is trying to pull the file from Desktop. I think there is no such file on the desktop.

The laptop may have a widescreen monitor, and you need to change your code so it looks good on both.

Hi, I've seen how data from a particular field in a database table can be retrieved and displayed based on the selection of a listitem in a listbox. However, I've never seen a listbox used in the reverse manner of what I have just described. I would like to know how one can send data to a specific field in a database table based on the selection of a listitem in the listbox. For example suppose I have a database that stores a variety of music and in it I have a table with the Jazz field, Blues field, and Rock field. In my asp.net app I would like to enable someone to browse to his/her music file, pick Rock and Roll in the listbox, and then hit the submit button. The selected music file will then be sent to the Rock field in my database table for storage. I'm not quite sure how I would do this, would I need to bind the listbox to the database after adding the listitems to the collection? Any help will be much appreciated, thank you in advance for you help.

?? This happens all the time! It's a straightforward matter of reading the postback value of the listbox and building up your SQL statement accordingly.... What's the problem?

I have uploaded a file in pdf format and want to open it. I have tried it throug following way
public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
{
context.Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(conString);
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT FileBytes FROM Files WHERE Id=@Id", con);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Id", context.Request["Id"]);
using (con)
{
con.Open();
byte[] file = (byte[])cmd.ExecuteScalar();
context.Response.BinaryWrite(file);
}
}
when I open it blank screen appears.
Kindly Help.

dear Nazir Hussain,
Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" & filename)
you can write the file in response.writefile.
so it can be downloaded easily.
