Do all of your customers have EDID monitors? I seriously doubt it.

If you don't get an answer back, you get default values. So what does that mean? The monitor either doesn't exist, isn't plugged into AC, or isn't powered up at all, or is dead. Which is it and how does that affect your grand plan?

Besides, I can't think of a single reason this would be useful, and I've worked in MANY different environments. Monitors have supported StandBy mode for far longer than EDID. So what's the point?
