first u have to import

system.runtime.interopservices

then u have to declare the function which u want to use as

I was discussing the difference between the vb6 and vb.net window application with my friend.
and i found only the limitation of .net compared to vb6 on the point of view of
1.Dotnet framework which has to
integrated before deploying to the
client end.
2.Heavy size of it's controls and thus take additional RAM during it's execution of programs which are based on .net framework.

as fara as the asp.net applications are concerned it is ok use .net.
isn't that???????????

1 - yes, that's true, but at least VB.NET can be mistaken for a real programming language. VB6 is a joke.

2 - Is that the case ?

As far as ASP.NET is concerned, there's not really anything better. Classic asp is a total disaster.

ok can u give me one or two advantages on .net as compared to vb6 so that i can decide......which language is good to do Window Aplications.Please take into mind the heavy .net framework platform and it's heavy controls.

Here's the bottom line. Microsoft has dropped all support for VB6. It's nasty, and it's never going to improve. Why anyone would even consider learning VB6 in 2007 is beyond me.

I was thinking of MSFlexGrid and DatagridView
I needed only datagource property of datagridview
and for that thing to happen , i am taking along all the properties of datagidview.
well i am on the verge of enhancing the MSFlexGrid with a datasource property.
and for these reasons i found vb6 pretty cool.
Isn't that?

There are other data bound controls you can use, which are not as heavy.

VB.NET is fully object oriented, while VB6 is a procedural language with minimal support for object orientation.

The .NET framework contains far more than the VB6 runtime library, that's why it's larger. The framework is included in newer versions of Windows, just as the VB6 runtime library is today.

Hi All,

I am sending a string from vb.net to powerpoint e.g. "This is going to be really #great# example".
In powerpoint how could i print all the text in a textbox with above string replacing any text between # to bold and rest normal. In my earlier post i have string manipulation code to pull of anything thats in between # but now i am not getting able to interpret it in powerpoint. it is somthing like

Microsoft.office.interop.powerpoint.slide.textrange.text = "String....."
if it contains # make it bold
Microsoft.office.interop.powerpoint.slide.textrange.font.bold = true

else

Microsoft.office.interop.powerpoint.slide.textrange.font.bold = false
end if

now its either making it all string bold or none and i am not getting able to make only text thats in # bold

please help.

Printing Problem

What I a trying to do is Print a bunch of text which I get from a text file. I have been able to do that no problem but when I get to the end if there is to much text, I can't get it to go over onto anther page it either just ignores the rest or when it does actually print it it prints it over what I have already done on the same page. I have tried and tried on the e.hasmorepages and it does nothing for me when it actually does some what work it just goes and tries to print XXXX amount of pages instead of just like 2 or 3. I do save my spot of where I last printed on the last page, but it won't start a second page to start printing on that 1. can anyone Please Help Me? Here is a sample of my code, that is to determin when to stop. CurY is the Y location of the Printing Page. QNum is the Number of line so far I have Printed and TotCount is the number of lines I have left to Print

If CurY >= 1000 Then
Hault = True
e.HasMorePages = True
StoppedNum = QNum
End If

If QNum = TotCount Then
e.HasMorePages = False
End If

If there is a better way please let me know! I Thank You for your Time, and Patience!
