A combobox only stores text. You need to write your own control.

Hi all,
till i am using xpath for all the manipulations with my xmlfile, and i am happy that its working properly, But whenever i try to Validate my XMLfile(XMLfile.xml)with XSD, My Xpath is not working
Here below i'm explaining my scenario clearly.
Initially XML file is like this
<lasers>
<laser lasername="Laser1" modelname="Nufern v1.0" serialno="1" manufacturername="Nufern v1.0" maximumpower="200w">
<properties">
CW-Waveform.jpg
<wavetypes>
<wavetype name="CW Ramp" url="ramp.html" isavailable="true">
<wavetype name="CW Analog" url="analog.html" isavailable="true">
<tabular>
<property id="228" name="BRM" currval="0" prgbar="true" selected="true" min="0" max="100" pwd="true" units="C" gauge="false" thresholdval="10">
<property id="200" name="Output power" currval="0" prgbar="true" selected="true" min="0" max="100" pwd="false" units="C" gauge="true" thresholdval="10">
and then This is Xpath
xmlDocument xmldoc=new xmlDocument();
xmldoc.load(xmlfilepath);
xmlnodelist nodelist=xmldoc.SelectNodes("lasers/laser/properties/tabular/property[@name='BRM']");//xpath
Is working fine but, to validate xml with xsd i made changes to the xml as
<lasers<b> xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="urn:MyNamespace" xsi:schemaLocation="urn:MyNamespace laserProp.xsd">
<laser lasername="Laser1" modelname="Nufern v1.0" serialno="1" manufacturername="Nufern v1.0" maximumpower="200w" <b="">xmlns="urn:MyNamespace">
<properties <b="">xmlns="urn:MyNamespace">
CW-Waveform.jpg
<wavetypes>
<wavetype name="CW Ramp" url="ramp.html" isavailable="true">
<wavetype name="CW Analog" url="analog.html" isavailable="true">
<tabular>
<property id="228" name="BRM" currval="0" prgbar="true" selected="true" min="0" max="100" pwd="true" units="C" gauge="false" thresholdval="10">
<property id="200" name="Output power" currval="0" prgbar="true" selected="true" min="0" max="100" pwd="false" units="C" gauge="true" thresholdval="10">
Now the same xpath is not working
I've tried in several ways but i am with no result, please help me.
thnx in advance

Your XPath needs to specify the namespace, that's why it's stopped working.

but i didn't understand where i need to mention the Namespace...
since its an xmlfile, i din't understand where to specify the namespace.
Thnx in advnace

You've specified the namespace, that's what xmlns stands for. Now, you need for your Xpath code to know it's searching that namespace.

Hi,
I’m trying to implement a search function within my C# Windows application to search within a datagrid.
Basically I need to search the datagrid, using any key word, e.g. if "B" is typed, all entries with B in either is found and displayed in the datagrid.
and this search box should be embedded in the datagrid header.
Do any ActiveX control available for that?
Cheers for any help or advice you can give.
(Incase its important i'm using Visual Studio 03 version 1.1)

Why on earth would you want to use an ActiveX control ?
What's your data source ? You may be able to run SQL on it. OTherwise, you can use foreach to step over the rows and find the ones you want.

Where does the data table come from ? THAT is the data source.

Try the query.....
just create a search query with LIKE AND % operator
the queryresult will solv your problem
My small attempt...

Thanks for response!
but my problem is not the search!
but the search text box "inside" the header of datagrid
so tht the search should apply on the relevant field
and if we type any keyword in tht text box then all the records matching the
keyword should get displayed
for example keyword "b" so records starting from "b" only should get displayed in the datagrid
can we do tht?
If yes then how, If no then are there any ActiveX control to do this?
becoz someone told me tht there must be some ActiveX control for tht
but i m unable to find till now.........

The System.Cryptography namespace offers MD5. No need to write your own.

Hi,
I am trying to import a CSV file into windows ce 5.0 device. I get the following error:
Could not find a part of the path '\c:\Inventory\Assets\AssetIN.txt'.
The \ that appears at the begining of the path as reported in the error message was not part of the original file path.
This is the code that produced the error:
strFilePath string;
strFilePath = "c:\\Inventory\\Assets\\AssetIN.txt";
ds = TextToDataSet.Convert(strFilePath, "cvsData", "\"");<ERROR LINE>
public static DataSet Convert(string sFile, string TableName, string delimiter)
{
DataSet result = new DataSet();
StreamReader s = new StreamReader(sFile);<-ERROR LINE->
.
.
}

Obviously, when I add it, it appears, so it's hard to say what you're doing wrong.

I'm not to sure about file creation in C#. I understand BinaryWriter, but it very inconvenient and makes things very complicated. Some tell me that I should use some other writing class, but then I found out that they write things to a file using text, meaning people could open it with something like Notepad and edit it to their content. I'm looking for something like a videogame save file for Starcraft or Warcraft. You can't open up their files and change it around. Is there a file writing class that will write files in the above mentioned manner (Can't be edited and not binarywriter)? Or perhaps there is a way to use a class that writes text to a file in a different way so that no one could edit it? Help would be MUCH appreciated.

One thing is you can use GZipStream, which writes the text in compressed format - so no one would understand what it is - Or you can develop your own streamWriter.
Cheers

You can develop your own streamWriter? I didn't know. Do you know of any tutorials on this subject? (Thanks a lot for the GZipStream, by the way)

Hi guys,
Please help!!!
How do I check before entering something in a listview if it exists? if it does then don't add otherwise add.
Please advice.
sasa

The word "exists" is ambiguous. If you don't want to add a duplicate string (my assumption), you could use this method to check for its presence:
bool StringPresentInListView
(ListView lv,
string s)
{
foreach (ListViewItem lvi in lv.Items) {
if (lvi.Text.Equals (s)) {
return true;
}
}
return false;
}

I can't seem to figure out how to install files to the %ALLUSERSPROFILE% folder in a visual studio 2005 setup and deployment project.
Microsoft recommends this folder for the purpose I'm putting it to in this article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/07/01/UAC/[^]
" If, on the other hand, you want machine-wide state that individual users can modify, you would want to put this in the %allusersprofile%, as in the high scores example mentioned earlier."
I have a firebird embedded database file that needs to go into a shared location for all computer users and be editable. This seems like the logical place to put it.
In the "Add special folder" option in the file system editor there is no option that matches. I've tried adding a custom folder with %allusersprofile% and [ALLUSERSPROFILE] but both result in a network path error when the installer first fires up saying it can't access that network path.
I'm a bit stumped, on the one hand Microsoft is endorsing this, on the other it can't be done AFAICT. (I do have all the latest updates and patches for VS 2005 including the Vista ones).
"110%" - it's the new 70%
