I'm using the MS Optical TrackBall and it's brilliant. Sure, it does take a bit of getting use to, but I find it's much easier on the wrists than a standard mouse.
Also a lot faster!

I like the trackball because sometimes I place it on my leg and layback to relax in my chair while I am just clicking away with the trackball. You can't do that with a mouse.
As far as how easy is it on the wrist, I have never had a problem with it, but I have never had a problem with a regular mouse either.

It's also possible with a regular mouse, just get a good cordless optical mouse. They work almost everywhere, even on AOL disks  or turned upside down under your desk surface

If you buy a trackball, get an optical ball. Going back to last weeks survey, the rollers in a trackball get gummed up quite often. The optical balls seem to be able to go longer with out needing to be cleaned.

I would definitely recommend using a trackball. I use a mouse at work and it drives me crazy. My wrist really doesn't like it. At home I use my Logitech trackball and notice a huge difference! Especially when playing Unreal Tournament. Not that I've ever done that at work.
