I was having trouble with this as well. Daniel Grunwald was kind enough to point me to an item I must have missed when reading "Windows Vista Application Development Requirements for User Account Control Compatibility" around page 63 and up concerning manifests.
The UAC(User Access Control) junk for Vista, specifically the registry and file virtualization technologies, were kicking in for my windows NT based apps. Apparently, we need to embed one of those darn manifest files in our app to prevent virtualization from kicking in. I've been playing with it for a couple of days and it seems to work. (so far)
Having the manifest with the <trustInfo> section apparently disables virtualization for the app.
Anyway, be forewarned, there are some issues with the manifests from VS 2005 causing some parsing bugs on XP if those manifests are used as is. I'm using the manifest that gets added to my VC++ 2003 projects and modifying it accordingly and things have been stable.

for administrative utility apps, simply replace the "asInvoker" to "requireAdministrator" and it'll put one of those nifty shields in your icon identifying it as such and ask the user if it's ok to run as admin whenever they try to run it on Vista. This eliminates the need to remember to right click the icon and choose "Run as Administrator".
The article "Using Windows XP Styles in your MFC/WIN32 Applications" here on CP has a decent description on how to embed the manifest file quickly. The Microsoft way requires some defined symbols and it is probably more elegant but if your in a hurry, and want to get this working fast, his article does the job.
Disclaimer: I'm still trying to verify that this doesn't hose my apps on other versions of Windows but so far, XP and W2K have not complained. I've only known about this for a few days myself.

After compile and run the project, the codes above runs well, but there is a problem which I need the bitmap displays with transparent, and I can only use BMP format picture, so use a GIF transparent picture is not an option, I know how to load a bitmap to a CDC object, and know how to make it be a transparent bitmap, but I just don't know how to put this transparent picture on the CBitmapButton object.
I had search articles about how to implement a tranparent bitmap button both on CG and CodeProject website, and also find some articles which might useful to me, but those codes are all too complex to me, and I don't have time to check the code to figure out how I can use them.
I think I might need to create a class that inherit from CBitmapButton, then override the DrawItem member function, but I didn't have any clue to tell me how to override it.
So, does any one can tell me how to use CBitmapButton class and can use a transparent picture which doing transparent job dynamically?

If you're able to convert the .gif image to a .bmp, you can use this[^] button class if you add the .bmp to your app's resource.

Thanks for your help, I had downloaded and tested, it's a really good button class, but it's like all the other classes, it's too many function, but I just want my button can act like a CBitmapButton and can use a bmp which make it transparent by myself, so if I want to fetch some codes that I really need, then insert into my project, it would cost too much time, because I still not familiar with MFC, and the time I have is too less, so, I need a component which simply for single subject for me to use, otherwise, override maybe my best choice, if there is any one can tell me the way, but thanks for you help anyway

Actually it's easier to use than a standard bitmap button. All you need to do is add a single line of code in your OnInitDialog() method to set the FooButton instance's bitmap. The demo program source illustrates this.

Call CheckDlgButton() in your dialog's OnInitDialog() method.

the messages tell u the specific module is being loaded, no symbol file means u couldn't switch in that module's code, and debug step by step.

AFAIK it's not possible. There was a registry hack in XP but I can't remember it (Google
it maybe).
From what I've read, Microsoft states this is intentional - so software can't override user
hardware settings.
Also, Multimedia APIs and DirectSound let you pick devices anyway, so I suppose it's not
necessary.

First of all, please forgive for my english. Here's my problem.
I use Visual C++ 6.0 with MFC. I've 2 independant Dialog based projects. I'd like to re(use) the 2 dialog boxes in a new MFC project, without having to retype all the code and the ressources. Is it possible to integrate existing projects into a new one? Thanks.

Retyping would be extreme - you could, at the very least, copy/paste the code (that's code
reusablility!).
There's a variety of ways, here's a few:
1) copy/paste (bad - if you fix/change one then you have to remember to change all copies)
2) Keep a separate folder of common code/resources that can be shared by projects
3) Compile common code to a static library
4) Compile common code to a DLL
Resource files allow including other resource files. To share with MFC you'll need to set it
up so resource IDs don't clash anywhere.
