True, this can be achieved with HTMl mail.
What you have to do is assign the content as a string to a variable and make it the body of the email. You can insert the value entered by the user in the string itself.
Eg:-
string str = "<html><body>Hai Friend. Your request has been received in the name of " + txtName.Text + " and we will get back to you soon<body><html>"
mailbody = str

I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 to develop the application. My issue is that i had to generate a Word Report with password from an ASP.NET web application.
After much try i got the dll Microsoft Word 11.0 Object Library and with the help of which i could generate a word document with password from a trial application. When i tried to implement the same in our project, it was giving an error as
'Could not open Macro Storage'.
The error code was 2146822307.
While checked up with the windows task manager it was taking a lot of memory.
When performed a search with this, i came to know the necessity of configuring the Word application with DCOMCNFG - as setting the word to be run under interactive user mode etc. But that is very risky as listed in the links,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q288366/ -- (Explains how to configure with DCOMCNFG)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257757/
Can any body tell me how to solve this without using DCOMCNFG ?
Or at the least is there any solutions to overcome the security issues...
Your suggestions might be of great value....
If anybody comes across any link or any thing please do reply ....
I will be very grateful...

This article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257757[^]) is absolutely befitting to every word. ASP.NET, at least in its current version has lot of issues working along with Interactive desktop application like Microsoft Word.

I'm looking to using an Access db for the backend of a web event calender. I'd like to store images in this database, then at Run-Time pull the images from the database to be displayed on the web. My question is how to take the OLE Object and convert it to a JEPG, GIF or PNG file.
Planning on having an image.aspx?imageID= that will return in image to the calling site. Has anyone run into any information about this or what to google to research it. I've been coming up short.
I'm listening but I only speak GEEK.

Hello,
I'm an ASP.NET newbie doing some minor changes to an existing ASP.NET 1.x website using VB. This site is a mess behind the scenes, with many unused pages, deadends, "test pages" and such. I'm not sure which bits are doing a job and which are surplus, so I have left it all as it is for now.
An example of one of the small validation tasks I want to do: in the shopping cart checkout sequence the phone number entry field is set to accept a solid sequence ("9786665544") instead of a more US-intuative sequence ("978-666-5544").
No problem, right?
I have searched for either inline code on the .aspx page, or a code behind page, but I have found neither. The pages seem to reference code-behind files that don't exist (i.e. " Codebehind="checkout_main.aspx.vb"").
I half-remember hearing that the site code can be compiled into the .DLL file so that the site will function, but no useable inline code or code-behind formats will be left accessable to people working on the site afterwards. Is this the case? It seems sort of like welding the hood shut on a car so one can't change the oil.
Is teher a way to "decompile" the DLL in order to get access to this code, or is it easier just to trash the old mess and start over?
Thanks very much for any comments or advice.

Hi,
I'm trying to bind the XMLDatasource to a XPATHDocument that I have retrieved from the database.
Does anybody know how to do this? I have tried everything but can't seem to get it right?
I am trying the asp:menu control to an xml that I am pulling straight from the DB
<asp:Menu ID="mnItem" runat="server" DataSourceID="XmlDataSource1">
</asp:Menu>
<asp:XmlDataSource ID="XmlDataSource1" runat="server" XPath="MenuItems/MenuItem"></asp:XmlDataSource>
using (SqlConnection oConn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CMS"].ConnectionString))
using (SqlCommand oComm = new SqlCommand("sfspGetPageMenuItems", oConn))
{
oComm.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
oConn.Open();
SqlParameter oParam = new SqlParameter("@PageID",SqlDbType.Int);
oParam.Value = 1;
oComm.Parameters.Add(oParam);
XPathDocument xdoc = new XPathDocument(oComm.ExecuteXmlReader());
XmlDataSource1.DataFile = xdoc;
}

I'd recommend that you start with the ASP.NET QuickStart tutorials, found here[^]. From there, you can start to google around a bit to find articles relating to your project and/or areas of interest. Best of luck.

Hi All,
Iam new to web development. Need help on the following:
1.I have created a login page with a login and a password text field and have put requiredfieldvalidators on them.
2.On this page i also have a hint linkbutton which users can click if they dont remember the password. This hint requires that users enter their login id and based on their login id, the app will query the database for their profile and display the password hint.
problem: When i enter the login and hit the hint linkbutton, the requiredfieldvalidator for the password comes up. How do i set the requiredfieldvalidator to go off only when submit button is hit?

Set CausesValidation = false on the hint linkbutton and it won't check the validators.
Hope that helps.

Are you doing something in the If Not IsPostback statement that is redirecting or something?
