hi, I am beginner in direct show
and I would like to write simple capture and saving file aplication.
As a sample i use "Video Capture Example Code" from MSDN
It works fine but I get stuck to figure out how to change video size.
Can someone help me how to set width and high of recording video?
I am also looking for SDK sample AmCap
MSDN says (SDK root)\Samples\Multimedia\DirectShow\Capture\AMCap
but is not there.
Does anyone know link to download this sample
Thank you
Viliam

Are you using DirectX8 or DirectX9? If you are using DirectX9 the samples for DirectShow are now in the platform SDK. I don't remember for sure, but you may also have to download DirectX8 SDK Extras from MSDN to get all of the DirectShow samples.

Dustin

Uuh, what is "the notepad file" ? You mean, a simple txt file ? Please explain your question in a clearer way.

why dont you use SetFileTime() function?

If all you need to do is update the modification time, look into finding a Windows version of the touch utility. Should be rather easy to find, and really easy to write - look up the SetFileTime(...) function.
Peace!

If the file has not been opened, it therefore has not been changed, thus no save is necessary. Please elaborate.

Hi,
how to get absolute path of %systemroot% or %userprofile%.
I want to create file into %userprofile% path and CFile does not accept that sort of path so I need somehow absolute path of %UserProfile%. as it is changing depending on user's account on PC.
Can anyboday let me know about this ?
Thanks,
Prakash

Is there a simple way to process right click events on a dialog? I've successfully used the long filename ellipsis CStatic control to display long filenames, but would like to be able to right click and perhaps have a tooltip or something that can display the entire path

overide the WM_RBUTTONDOWN message.

Since users are used to holding a mouse button down to initiate drag and/or selection actions, you could react to the WM_RBUTTONUP event (rarely the down event, unless you really know what you are doing).
Associating a tooltip to the control would allow the tooltip to appear automatically when the user hovers over it for a time, which is pretty standard behavior. Try it right now - hover over a toolbar button in Internet Explorer or a truncated text item in the list view in Explorer and see what happpens.
Never create a new or different workflow when an existing one already exists that users may already be familiar with.
Peace!
