Hi,
My program is a Visual Studio add-in.
i want to extract the project information of any .**proj file
I know that VSProject2 ant Project types exist in the .net framework. But, i only know the way to get the projetc information of the current working solution.
I would like to be able to open any .??proj from file path and enumerate is file items.

i have tried many times using usb to serial converter in order to communication but i havent done it it works on hyper terminal.i have asked many people this topic but they dont know it s reason.i have laptop.so it hasnt serial port.i need serial port for my greduation work.if anyone can help me i ll be very very pleasure.

What exactly is your problem? Your USB-RS232 adapter works in hyperterminal but not your C# program, or your USB-rs232 adapter doesn't work at all but you can communicate using a RS232 port on an older desktop.
If the former, there're multiple articles giving RS232 libraries on this site that work find for sending a steady stream of bytes. They all performed really poorly when writing a single byte at a time instead of dumping a file. The only free library I found on that subject was published in MSDN magazine.
If the later, I strongly advise you to cut your losses and find a desktop to use for the project. The USB-RS232 adapters out there are almost(?) universally unreliable and very inconsistent in what applications/devices they actually manage to work with successfully.

it worked in my desktop.but why cant it work in my laptop?i can not find its reason.visual c# has serial component.may be visual c# doesnt allow using virtual device.i must solve this problem if i cant solve so i cant go on in my project.thanks for your kindness

Does your desktop have an integral serial port, or are you using the USB device on both. If the later I don't have any idea what your problem is. If the former, your only option is likely to be trying a different brand. Most USB-RS232 adaptors are very poor quality and don't follow the spec correctly or in total. AFAIK part of the problem is that the RS232 spec doesn't map well to USB at all. Read online reviews for the products. If you're using a specific device look for one where you can find someone say it worked with it, or contact the manufacturer for recommendations. If you're talking to a custom device the best I can suggest is to pick one that has extremely few complaints. I've never used one, so I can't recommend any particular model.

My C# application has unhandled exception on client computer with .NET Framework, without Visual Studio. When this happens, .NET Exception message which contains useful information like exception type and exception trace, appears for a short time, and immediately replaced by standard exception dialog with "Send to Microsoft - Don't send" buttons.
Is it possible to get exception trace and file name on this computer by some way?

Why not set up a global exception handler in the Main method? Any exception that the application throws is then caught and you can handle in any way you like.

I will think about this, but currently my problem is to get exception information on client computer.
If there is no other way, I will send to client new program version with global exception handler, but now I am looking for a way to change some settings on client computer to see what I need.

And my suggestion was a way to solve that. In the exception handler (the catch block) write some code to get the details of the exception and do what you need to do with it. Be careful though! Depending on what your application does the exception could contain sensitive information that you might not like your user to know. (Especially if the exception is generated because of a failure when connecting to some online resource - it could provide an attacker with information to compromise your servers)

Install a debugger - although people tend not to like you doing that.

I have a populated data set (loaded from an XML file) that I want to put in a SQL database.
Most of the tables in the DataSet are related, so I can't use a DataAdapter to update because I don't know the update order.
All the examples I've seen about updating an SQL database only target one table or know the 'reverse-order' in which to update.
Is there an easy way to store a .NET multi-table DataSet to a SQL database.

hi all !!im new to vb.net..
actually i did a module in my project and executed ,it worked properly then i closed the application ...again i opened & did some modification to my project module its accepting nicely but while executing its showing the previous one results ...moreover i changed the startup form its not accepting ..
i changed from form1 to form3 like this
(project->properties->application ->startupform->form3)
VERY FUNNY im not able understand the problem
plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me out!!!

its window based application..my module is DataEntryModule where operator can upload n' retrieve the data..This includes login page,admin page, operator page,.....(here authentication is thru database)

if your Application is window based then how do you set your page like Form.aspx in window based Application you have to set in the project property..

hey im not at all related to asp.net...only vb.net thats it.. asp.net n' vb.net differs in setting start up form
project->properties->application ->startupform->form3 this is how v set the startup form in vb.net

+ Solution Explorer
+ VBProject(Right Click on it) then --> Go Property option & click then open a dialog box now you will go Startup Object from this comboBox.

VB.NET and ASP.NET are two incomparible things.
ASP.NET is a framework that targets the CLR.
VB.NET is a language. You can write Windows Forms applications in it. You can write Windows Mobile Applications in it. You can write ASP.NET applications in it.

This is set in the Program class, in the Main method (at least it is in C# - and I don't expect VB.NET will be that much different).
