Thanks very much for replying.
I grabbed that code off of some site online; I have no idea why it was trying to do that. I read more about Javascript, and then realized it was sort of insane to use it on a .NET site when returning forms was one of the functions ASP.NET was made for in the first place...
Thanks again!

I have an application which gives me this error the first time it's accessed after a while:
"Session state has created a session id, but cannot save it because the response was already flushed by the application."
And, of course, when I refresh the page, or move to another, the error does not appear anymore because, the session is saved without trouble during subsequent requests.
I read somewhere about Response.Flush() causing this problem, and also that app.pool recycling could be the reason for seeing this error, but I didn't use Response.Flush anywhere. I suspect I probably did something bad in my code or at a bad time, but I'm also thinking it might have something to do with web.config.
I've searched a lot, and could find an answer.

The session id is stored in a cookie, so what the error message really means is that it's the http head part of the response that has already been flushed. Normally this doesn't happen until the page is complete, but if you turn of response buffering, this may happen earlier.

Thanks for the reply.
I really did put buffer="false" in web.config (<pages> element). I'll try removing that attribute.

Hi,
I am storing some variables in Session -- which is stored in sql server 2005 DB . Everything is set up for database and i can aslo tables(ASPstateTempSessions & AspStateTempApplications) for session in the ASPStateDB.
But i am not able to see the session variables stored in the ASPStateDB tables. All i see is SessionId and some other fields but not my variables and its values.
EX. Session["myVariable"] = data;
I cannot see myVariable and data being stored in the database. Arent they supposed to be there?
However if i use trace i can see all the session variables and their values.
Any help is appreciated,
Yojimbo

You formatted a clients PC because you couldn't figure out how to get the config right ?
If it's a javascript error, you'll be given a line number, and viewing the source will give you a much better idea of what is going wrong.

How long have you waited for the response? It's takes much longer to upload a file to a server than to "upload" it inside your own computer.

I am trying to make a decision on a development path for a small, inexperienced (in web design) team for one or two external web site applications (not a complex backend to begin with)
in a .Net/SQLServer/VisualStudio environment. Rather than start simply from Visual Studio, I am looking for tools and frameworks to give us a head start and to improve productivity. I don't want to spend too much time building the infrastucture and more on the application and appearance. DotNetNuke looks interesting and so does IronSpeed, although I think I need the former more than the latter. I am looking for any comments or experience or whatever in choosing/using/abusing these or similar.

You are trying to reinventing the wheel.
As the forum does not encode the text correctly, I can't see what you are trying to do, but either the HtmlEncode or HtmlDecode method will do that for you.

You have to html encode the data when you create the xml file, so that it ends up like:
<someTag>XYZ & corporation</someTag>
Use the HtmlEncode method to encode the data.

Is there a reason why you can't just set the src attribute of the IFrame to point to the pdf? That will cause the web viewer to display the file....
