When you need to perform an SQL statement that doesn't retrieve any data, you can use the ExecuteNonQuery method. So you will not need a DataAdapter object. You just use the command object. So you will need a line that looks like this:
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
The da.Fill(ds, "cust_mast") line that you have in your code is really only to be used for an sql select statement.
Hope this helps.

I want sum data in column 1 how can i do?

I'd write a function to either a) sum that values in the dataset that the grid view is bound to or b) query the database directly.

Hi,
I am using cross-tabs report for reporting in crystal reports for .net 2005. When the width of the report exceeds the width of the page so it cuts off the rest of pages.

Have you tried resizing or restructuring the layout? I think that would be the first step.

datagridview1.rows.count=0

The code will not working because it's read only. By the way, if you use bounded data you can't clear it. But if you use typed data you can clear the collection with this:
Private Sub btnClearALL_Click(Byval sender as object, Byval e as System.Eventargs) Handles btnClearAll.Click<br />
datagrid1.rows.clear<br />
End Sub

I couldn't find any forum related to just VB so the closest one to my topic was this one.
Does anyone know of a VB DEcompiler? I need to get some information out of our old compiled VB code. I believe is VB 5 or 6. Can anyone help me?

This forum is for VB.
Eddymvp wrote: Does anyone know of a VB DEcompiler?
For decompiling a .exe file? You cannot do that, because once a program is compiled, there's no way of decompiling the code because it's just 1s and 0s then.
Trinity: Neo... nobody has ever done this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.

VB5 and 6 both compiled down to native code, but start at too high a level. There is nothing that will decompile it back to anything close to resembling the original source.

Search for reverse engineering and VB.
As already have been pointed out, it's impossible to get the original code back, but it's possible to re-create code that will do the same as the original code did.

You can try to read the ansi character if you want to get dizzy. Why don't you make the decompiling program by yourself

Hi
Im wanting to find out alittle about the etiquette or practise if you like about handling databases in terms of do they ever need to be recreated after a certain time or is a database supposed to live for as long as you using the software .
I guess in short what im wanting to know is. if my app is a reciepting software , is there a time i need to tell my app that its time to backup a final copy of the database and create a clean copy perhaps each year or so. how does it work.
thanks. i hope i've been able to relay what i need so understand
