Hello everyone!
I have a web app made with Visual Studio 2005 and, locally in workstation, it works fine, but when I tried to upload it from my workstation to the companys web server (IIS) it crashs!!!
Now, the companys web server it's a IIS 6.0 in Windows 2003 Server with the .NET Framework 2.0 installed.
What do I have to install o modify to run this web app in that server?
My web app is using the Crystal Report that comes with the Visual Studio 2005
I send my apologies if I'm posting in a forum I shouldn't, but I thought this could be the best for this kind of cuestions.

Hi all,
I want to access a certain port on a remote pc to see if I have access to that port number, but how do I ping that port number?

You don't. You just try to connect to that port. If it works, great!, if not, then you know.

PING will only tell you if the TCP/IP stack at the IP address you specified responds to the ICMP packet(s) that were sent to it. It won't tell you anything about the port you want.

That was the idea, I just wanted to find out if I could get access to that port on a remote machine on our network, but I got it working without the port needed, it was for SQL Server, to connect to a remote machine database.

Hi all, I have a problem when trying to alter my registry...
Usually i could edit the registry by running regedit, but now when i try it it says that i don't have the right that the administrator might have changed my rights. The thing is i am the administrator of my own pc... I found a virus on my computer "bordok/H" i think was the name... I read up on this virus and found that it changes settings in the registry, are there settings that i can change back to give me full rights again... i am logged on as the administrator now so i can edit the registry but i would like to use my own user account as i thought that i was the administrator to start with...

No such monster. Without knowing the exact name of the virus, it's pretty much impossible to tell you how to remove it if the virus scanner you have can't do it.

Sorry for taking this long to reply...
And Sorry about the name i was completely wrong... the virus i was talking about is still on my computer. I am running the AntiVir Guard antivirus software... it is freeware... the virus is called Worm/Brontok.H , i almost got it right the first time  . I don't know if this virus would have done anything to my registry as to prevent me from doing a regedit from the "Start, Run" windows option. I can only do a regedit if i log on with the name "Administrator" but usually i could log on as myself and i'd have Administrator rights...

This thing has been around for over a year. Any Spyware tool should be able to get rid of it, like Search and Destroy, Ad Aware, EasySpyRemover, ...
A little Google goes a long way.

Hiii
For testing a NMS (network management system) , we need to create virtual networks of different types having different devices such as WinXp machines, printers, scanners etc.
There are softwares available to do this, but we want to develop our own.
Any hints on what needs to be done ??
i mean how can i create virtual systems by writing some code ?? which dlls , which APIs etc ??

In my opinion, junk file and registry is difference. Registry does not store a file. It store a key of system configuration in your operating system.

I've never heard of a Junk file, but the registry is Microsoft's way of organizing bedlam. Back in the bad old days of Windows 2.x, 3.x, etc every program and piece of hardware had one or more .ini files containing default and user specified settings for the configuration. The Registry is a database that replaces that system with a single repository for all configuration settings.
The CLASSES_ROOT hive is kept for backward compatibility - last I checked it was obsolete, but programs dating from the earlier Win9.x days still rely on it. The CURRENT_USER hive contains settings for the currently logged on user; these are created using values from the USERS hive when a user logs on to the system. The LOCAL_MACHINE hive contains settings specific to the machine, such as hardware and software installed, services to start on power up, etc. CURRENT_CONFIG contains dynamic information that applies only to the current session.
It should be scanned periodically for two reasons. One is that many software developers don't know how to use the Registry correctly, or write uninstallers that neglect to remove obsolete entries from the Registry. This clutters up the Registry database, and can affect performance. The other is that virus writers love to tamper with the Registry to spoof your PC into running phony programs when it's supposed to run legitimate programs, and to make their nasty wares run at startup.

What do I need to do to get performance data from another PC in the LAN?
When I select it, perfmon says "Unable to connect to machine"

It's a permissions problem, if you log onto the remote machine as Admin (from your perfmon pc) then it should work.
or try this:
1) Open regedit on the destination machine
2) Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Perflib
3) Right click on the 'perflib' key and choose 'permissions'
4) Add the account from which you are attempting to run perfmon (from your other machine), or add 'Local System' - change permissions to Full Control.
5) Save, exit
try perfmon again.

Thanks, logging in (by accessing a shared folder), closing and repopening perfmon helped.
