How to set the size of virtual memory. Can I use virtaul mem in my VC++ program. Can I set the size of virtual memory in my visual C++ program.
This is all handled automatically by Windows.

Of course, unless you have very slow RAM and a very fast HDD!

I'm not sure if this is in play but do you know the default maximum size of a block of memory that you can allocate in 32 bit windows is around 1.2GB?

When ever I create a control variable for any item on a dialog it seems to take forever.
However when I disconnect from the LAN it seems to work much faster.
My question is how/where do I set the options to allow faster access to the IDE stuff.
I have under Options set the Visual Studio references to my C: drive,it was accessing a Network drive, but it still takes a long time to create a single control variable!
Help please, its diving me mad!

I think you might get a quicker answer if you posted this question in the Operating Systems / SysAdmin forum.

i think he says that he wants to do this programmatically, so its the correct forum to ask (if he does this in C/C++)

Unfortunately, I don't know how or I don't understand what you mean by global desktop?

Mahesh KulkarniIs there any way to count digits from the string?
What exactly do you mean by this? Are you wanting the length of the string, or the actual count of numeric digits (0-9) within the string?

yes, but there is no direct way.
How, in pseudocode, would you do it ? if you can do it, then translating it to C/C++ would be simple.

a simple for() loop can accomplish this by counting from variable[0] - variable[?], waiting until you find the '/0' character.
