which is what I expected. Basically my answer was the longer version of check the bios. There are many possibilities with AGP depending on the bios and configuration. Sitting idle long enough to get an interruption in CMOS backup battery (or a "minor" static shock) would result in a default CMOS setting, factory defaults, whatever those are. That would effectively change the settings from working to possibly not working....
Also a stronger static discharge to the VGA port could A) take out a card B) take out an AGP slot.

an? I wasn't aware of any 2xagp boards in existance. What would the point've been. AFAIK there were no nongfx cards the used the agp bus, and PCIe predated the rebirth of SLI, so there wouldn't've been a need there either.

it was my poor english way of saying that a static discharge any time during the idle of the computer, could have resulted in killing either the original graphics card, or the slot that the graphics card was sitting. I'm just a country hick who does 3D graphics.

I checked the BIOS and it indeed had a setting for selecting PCI or AGP. Even though it was already set to AGP (which is odd since the PCI card is the one that works), I tried toggling it back and forth between the two but still could not get the AGP card to work. There was no setting for speed (e.g., 4x, 8x).
Another anomaly I found was that with the machine working using the PCI card, I could simply insert the AGP card into its slot, power on the machine, and it would immediately start beeping.

You could also try inserting and removing the OLD (might get damaged) AGP card a few times (with the PC switched off, of course). That might help to remove potential oxidation from the contacts. Also, you could try vacuuming the AGP-slot or cleaning it with compressed air.
As for the BIOS:
Does it work if you select "Load Fail-Safe Defaults" (or, depending on the BIOS, a similar menu entry)? The CMOS might have been lost over the time.

I did load the OEM defaults, but that had no effect.

Windows 2000 will not recognize a large number of older VGA cards just like Win2k3 didn't recognize my old Netgear FA310TX (replaced it with a FA-311-TX, and everything is peachy). VGA cards are super cheap nowadays (the one in my Win2k3 server box was only $15). Newegg is your friend.

But in this scenario, the older PCI card is working fine. It's the newer AGP card that is not working. Even the older AGP card is not working. On top of that, the machine is rejecting the AGP card long before Windows ever enters the scene.

After reloading the OEM defaults, cleaning the AGP slot and trying to start Windows (which should always work, at least in low res), I concur with John.
Replacing the MB seems like the sanest thing to do now.

TOPIC=Multiple-Peed Stepper Motor Control and Digital Display

The term project is about writing an Assembly Language Program to control a Stepper Motor interfaced to a PC through the parallel port. The project contains the following 3 main modules:
1. Stepper Motor Driving Module (Output Module):
· The motor will rotate clockwise if f (forward) key is pressed and will rotate anticlockwise if r (reverse) key is pressed from the keyboard.
· The speed of the motor will be controlled by the external push buttons (Up and Down) connected to the PC through the parallel port. If Up button is pressed the speed will be incremented by 1 out of 10 speeds. Down button will work similarly.
2. Speed Display Module (Output Module):
· The speed of rotating motor will be indicated by displaying a single digit 7-segment display. There will be speeds from 0 to 9. The speed which is displayed on the 7-segment display will also be displayed on the monitor with its direction (clockwise or anticlockwise)
3. Up and Down Push Buttons (Input Module):
· The speed of the motor will be controlled by the two external push buttons. The speed will be incremented or decremented one by one by pushing to Up or Down buttons respectively.

Are you going to build the circuit? What class are you in? Its a very interesting project but I don't think the people here are going to supply you with a complete schematic and a program written in assembler for no price. There are some programs written in C# that control motors through the parralel port, maybe here or programmersheaven.com

First, how long have you been sitting on this project, not doing anything?
Now you're down to 3 weeks and haven't got a clue how to do this? You may as well just go on vacation for 3 weeks because you're gonna fail.
Noone is going to just give you a schematic and code to save your butt. You're going to have to do the research yourself to build and test the circuit, as well as writing the code for it. BTW, hardly anyone uses Assembler anymore, especially under Windows, so good luck trying to find an example of that.
Can you tell I hate procrastinators who just think they'll find the complete finished answer to their homework assignment, final paper, or whatever, somewhere out on the Internet, just waiting for them to ask for it and someone to hand it over?

Im not an expert on such stuff but i have done lot of hardware programming using assembly
If i would have to do such a project i will do it like follows:
1. Know All the protocols for parallel port IO
2. Kow the way that chip behaves, i mean the interface exposed by that chip
3. Use some good assembler to code the modules
4. Use a GUI interface to control the modules
Hope this may have given u some idea.

I have an Intel Processor chip and I am looking for a way to tell what 'kind' of chip it is.
I THINK it is a P4 2.8 Ghz celeron. I know it is a celeron because that is plainly written on it.
The only other ID markings on it are as follows:
633/128/66/1.65V
Q035A107-0772 SL3VS
Any ideas?
