Check the referrer.

I check referer . For window.open it is null. for "href" it shows some value.

|
|
|

I see. Then you can use window.opener to access the parent window.

You can't do that. If there is nothing in referrer, then there is nothing that is sent to the server that reveals from where the window was opened.
The concept of the browser having separate windows only exists in the browser. What is sent to the server is just a request for a page, there is no information that tells where (or even if) the page will be displayed.

Hi Dears,
I used Profiles in my website to get users informations .
I get the following error when I have developed my application, and then I moved my site to another server ( like my web host`s server)
Error : settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I could find a solution from here but I dont know what to replace with connectionStringName="LocalSQLServer" in web.config file ?

hi
I have been wondering can we have a O.S that,s trully platform independent

You can have an OS that supports many different platforms, but you can't have an OS that would support any imaginable platform.

I want to upload some multimedia file to my website. Just like Youtube does. However, I searched google and didn't find any samples. It seems like there is a control called CSUpload Controls in .Net 2.0. But not sure whether it can load video file.

I built an ASP.NET 2.0 web site in my computer which has about 30 web pages.
I needed to use AJAX ( latest version ) only in the last page.
So I created a web site with just one page to test the “ASP.NET Ajax-Enabled Web Site” code of this page separately before integrating it with the previous big web site which is based simply on ASP.NET.
Both web sites work fine separately but when I added the web page with the AJAX code and also the modified web.config, it messed up the CSS formats( coded in the AB.css file ) on all Web controls that use the CssClass property. As result of that the text appears only with its default attributes with big black character founts which destroy the aesthetics and organization of the pages.
Here is a simple code example where the this problem appears:
<asp:label id="usernameLb" cssclass="Test" runat="server">
And here is its CSS code ( inside a “.css” file ) :
.Test
{
position:absolute;
left:450px;
top:110px;
z-index:3;
color: #0000ff;
font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica;
font-size: 15px;
font-weight: normal;
}
What could be the cause ?
( my OS is windows XP prof and I am using Visual Studio 2005 and IE 6 )
|
|
|
|
|
Just in case I was not clear enough:
It means that after adding the AJAX capability to the web site, the CssClass properties in all controls ( like in CssClass="Test" ) ceased to work.
For instance, in the above example, the “.Test” settings ( position:absolute; left:450px; top:110px; z-index:3; color: #0000ff; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica; font-size: 15px; ) stop working.

When a page looks different in IE6 and Mozilla, it's almost always Mozilla that renders the page correctly.
The reason that it looks as you intended in IE6 (but not correct), is that it uses bugs in the IE6 browser. When viewed in a standards compliant browser it's rendered correctly, but not as you intended, as that browser is lacking the bugs that you rely on.
I advice you to view the site in a reasonably standards compliant browser while you develop it, like Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, Opera or IE7. It's much easier to tweak a standards compliant page to also work in IE6 than to build it for IE6 and then try to make it work for all other browsers also.
You can look at Position Is Everything[^] for lists of rendering bugs for different browsers. The IE6 list currently has 18 bugs, while the Opera and Gecco lists mostly consists of bugs in earlier versions, fixed long ago.

Hi there!
I have a COM dll built in VC++ 6.0, and I use it in a Web application written in VB.NET. I'm having some strange problems, throuing some exceptions and other things...
I suspect the COM dll, but I just can't figure why. If I use it from a regular windows application it seems to work fine, no problems.
So, I was think if there is a way to debug into the COM from the WEB app I could see some more things. Does any one knows how to do it, or have any suggestion for my problem?
Thanks for you time.

Locally, it works fine but unfortunately, it gives the following error message when placed on a webserver. Actually, I am reading each node in a Treeview for generating the Excel. Hey all,
I'm trying to get an application up and running using Master Pages and their content pages using events to check user input. The problem that I'm encountering is how and where to declare the events so they fire just within the page that is accessed and its master page.
I've used events before but not with master pages, ie: all content pages are aspx pages. Is it necessary to create seperate classes to handle the interactivity with the events, and if so how do I interconnect them with the content pages?
The data I've come across on Google is very generic so far and handles only one master page with one content page. I only have two master pages, but it is running me through the ringer trying to figure this out.
I know that this jumbled question probably sounds like the ravings of a simpleton, but if y'all could give me a push in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

To access master page controls from the content page do something like this.
<br />
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
this.Init += new EventHandler(Page_Init);<br />
}<br />
<br />
protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
DropDownList ddl = (DropDownList)this.Master.FindControl("ddl");<br />
ddl.SelectedIndexChanged += new EventHandler(ddl_SelectedIndexChanged);<br />
}<br />
protected void ddl_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
}<br />
|
|
|
|
|
Does this mean that I declare the event delegate on the master page?

No, thats not necessary. You just add the event in the content page.
