Hi, I am creating a forum type. This forum consists of many sub forums in it for example: Computers, Gadgets, Music etc.... Users will login to use this forum for their own use of trading objects and bidding on object. The problems I am facing right now that I don't know are these:
1. I know how to make a datagrid with pages (After 10 post it creates another page) .. but I don't know how to access the second page of that datagrid. Can anyone help me in this pls?
2. How to upload pictures into asp.net using Ms Access Microsoft not sql.
3. How to make links from a datagrid (each row has a link) to a specific page. How can I make this happen because i dont know how to grab a specific link that the user chose.
Help me in this pls!! Thanks alot for any feedback

solutions:
1. in the datagrid set PagerStyle for the type of pagination.
write an event handler for PageIndexChanged event. if your datagrid id is dg then the code will be something like this

dg.CurrentPageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;<br />
}<br />
2. I cannot understand your question. If your question is related to uploading file to webserver, you can use <input type="file" /> and then use the SaveAs method of HttpPostedFile.
3. you can use HyperlinkColumn in the datagrid, or use a <a> in a TemplateColumn.

Thanks for your help man. I have some questions to ask please. For my first answer you told me .. "dg.CurrentPageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;" .. what is the NewPageIndex Please?? because when I made e. .. the only thing there was is getType.
Second question is for the pictures. I need to make the users to upload their picture on my forum. I am using an MS Access 2003 not SQL. I dont know how make this happen. I dont know where can I begin with thats why?
Third question .. I want a datagrid that will show the details of the object the users signed in. I want a hyperlink within every row. This link directs the users into a page with more details about that specific row (object). How can i make this please?

1. look here, when the pagination is on, it comes in number format, like 1,2,3,... or in Previous/Next format.
consider the previous next format. when you are in page 5, and click next, the next page index is 6. so e.NewPageIndex = 6.
2. I will prefer to keep the images in a folder in the webserver, and keep the path of the images in database. This is done the way I have told in my previous mail.
3. Lets say your object id is objid in the database and you are binding the datagrid with a datatable which get filled from the database table of objects.
Now the column will be something like this

I'm writing a crosstab, RDLC report using the Matrix control.
To add totals for the column and rows i'm using the built in SubTotal option.
This adds a subtotal column and row but doesn't sum the columns/rows. Instead it dislays the first value in the column/row. Am I doing something wrong?

hi all
I am a newbie to .net technology and one of my tasks is to develop a feed reader on .net 2005 using asp.net,c# and javascripts, which should display RSS feeds along with custom effects lik scrolling and fading..the scrolling part is done however the fading effect is a big issue..i am retrieving the feeds as xml and binding them to datalist...this technique works for displaying a scrolling feed. however i am unable to find a solution to implementing the fading effect..
one of the possible techniques i have thought of is to retrieve th datalist contents one by one in th code behin file, put them in an array of objects or somethin and pass this array to some sort of script which displays them one by one..however i cant figure out how to actually implement this...any help on this or any other techniques would be greatly appreciated...

Please be more specific about how you want to use the fading effect.
But what I can say, that to implement the fading effect or other effects, there are good free javascript libraries which you can use. I have myselft used scriptaculous and dojo.

hi friends
i want to get time format into datetime datatype.
like as
datetime s=convert.todatetime("12:14:55");
but i am getting error to convert string to datetime.
error is:
input string was not in correct format
or
the string was not recognized as valid datetime.there is a unknown word starting at index 0.

I think you need to use a TimeSpan instead of a DateTime. You can't have a DateTime without some sort of date...

I have downloaded a project ( asp with C# ) from the Internet. but I dont know how to oepn it in visualstudio.net2003 (its web application)
I click on the "sln" file ... but I face a problem in visual studio and it wont be opened .
can anyone tell me how to open a downloaded project in visualstudio ?
should I copy/paste it too root or OTHER PLACE??...
I want to see the whole project in visual studio

the error is :
visual studio.net cannot create or open the application. the likliest problem is that required components are not installed on the local web server.Run visual studio.net setup and add the web developemnet component.
this error occurs while opening a project which is downloaded from the internet.
also it occurs when I write a project in a computer and want to open it in another computer ...( both of the computers have visualstudio2003)
what Should I do?
where should I open or where should I copy the folder of the project..

ok, everytime you write a web application over VS2k3 it save the project over the server folder and the solution file is saved onto the user documents, if you using the default settings these folders are these ones.
Server folder C:/inetpub/wwwroot/YOUR-WEB-APP
the solution file is saved onto c:/C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My documents\Visual Studio 2003\Projects 'Im not sure about the last folder'
So , You have to keep the same structure (Even the application name) like the original developer Pc (This is mandatory for the project).
If you have any problems, try open the .sln onto wordpad and check the projects physical address.

Try creating a blank solution, then add the project(s) to the new solution. If it's a web app, you need to set up IIS to recognize that directory as a web application.

Hi there! I've a solution containing 5 projects (Visaul studio 2005). When I use session.abandon to end the session in one project. Session in other projects are not ending. Although I've found a workaround by opening a window in each project and using session.abandon in each of them and closing them. But it looks not so elegant. Is there any better way of going about it?

The session is local to the web application. If you have separate web applications, they have separate session objects, so they have to be handled separately.
