how to embed a flash (myFile.swf) into my ASP.net Web page
|

You'll probably want to further customize it:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="640" height="640" id="myFile" align="left">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="myFile.swf" />
<param name="loop" value="false" />
<param name="quality" value="best" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
<embed src="myFile.swf" quality="best" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="640" height="640" name="myFile" align="left" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />

i think you can give e.item.itemtype instead of e.row.rowtype

Hi
i am working in aspnet 2.0 and i have a gridview not datagrid.
and i think ,in gridview,row is used instead of item.
so i cant use e.item.itemtype
i have just tried it i got this error.
'System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs' does not contain a definition for 'Item'

You should use a different enumeration, not ListItemType.
Try like this:
"e.Row.RowType==DataControlRowType.DataRow"
if it doesn't work see what type e.Row.RowType is; in VS2005 hust hover the mouse over it.
|
|
|
|
|
Try the 'is' operator instead:
if( e.Row.RowType is System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlRowType )
{
Console.WriteLine( "yep" );
}

Convert the text to a DateTime object, subtract one from the other which results in a TimeSpan object - This is your answer. All you then need to do is format it for display.

Hello,
I have an ASP.NET page that draws image URLs from a database in order to display a product image on a product template page. I'd like to be able to install the expected "click on image to view larger resolution" pop-up feature found in almost all online product catalogs.
All of the info I have found so far about using large image pop-up scripts refer to static images - that is, images that are unique to that webpage, rather than drawn from a database field. I'm not clear on how to do a pop-up of an image drawn from a field dynamically. Any advice would be appreciated!
I found and tried to insert the following code into my page, but it is bringing up an "BC30456: 'DataItem' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.Control'." error:
<code><a href="#StayHere" onclick="window.open('bigimage.aspx?id=' +<%# (DataBinder.eval(Container.DataItem,"product_id"))%>, '', 'width=550 scrollbar=yes height=650 left=100 ')">
<asp:Image ID="Image1" ImageUrl='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Image1")%>' AlternateText='View Large Image' Runat="server" Width=204>
</asp:Image></td></code>

Your problem is in your binding, your code should work, you are missing a braket on DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Image1")
it should read DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Image1"))

Two questions:
1. I have a ASP.NET application with ASP.NET form controls in it.
I want to display some data from database with AJAX (no Atlas) when ASP.NET textbox loses focus, so I was wandering, how can I call AJAX function when textbox loses focus or I need to use a standard textbox?
Anyway, I know how to do it with standard textbox, but, I want to use a ASP.NET control.
2. I've got two ASP.NET buttons, one for submiting, other for previewing the message (like the one you have it on CodeProject to preview the written message).
I want the same functionalaty, but with ASP.NET button.
I know that I can do it simply with standard button control.
I've tried with RegisterStartupScript, but form first submits and then opens the popup window.
I don't wanna to submit the form (with that prview button).
Thanks.

Hmmm... There isn't anything to do with ASP.NET controls on that link...

Perhaps you're missing the fact that ASP.NET controls are all rendered as standard html controls - eg. an ASP:Label is rendered as a tag...
Since this is the case, everything else should fall into place, once you realise what objects are resulting from your asp.net objects...

Sorry about that.
I know that asp.net controls are rendered into standard controls.
Anyway, I wanted a solution for asp.net controls wich I have solved it with control_name.Attribute.Add.
Second problem is also solved with control_name.Attributes.Add and return false; after calling popupWindow.

We have a publicly hosted website (hosted by a hosting company) that is used for capturing data that is stored in a database, and need to be able to download that data at periodic intervals to a server on company intranet. One solution we have considered is to place a Web Service on the Web Site, or in a subdirectory of the website. That does not seem to be working as the Web Service is returning an error of content-type of text/html when text/xml is being expected. "Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'...".
The website has a global.aspx handler that is processed for each request, and one of the things that does is to read a configuration file that is used to populate the pages to be displayed. The webservice does not require the global.aspx, but even when we place the webservice in a subdirectory of the website, it looks like the global.aspx is still being processed, and this may be responsible for the text/html being returned.
Are we doing it right? Will appreciate any suggestions or alternatives on how to go about this. We want to place the web service so that it can be called from applications on the intranet to read the data from the same database as the web application.

Open the properties for the subdirectory in the IIS manager, and create an application for it (there is a button for that). It's now a separate application, and does not use anything from the application in the root folder.

Thanks for your suggestion. We tried it on the intranet, and it worked. We are yet to try it on the publicly hosted website. We have no access to IIS on the hosting company's machine, but would request that they create the applicaton for us. I believe it should work also.
