Hi,
I want to get the file name with the path from "open file dialogbox" at runtime by clicking on a buton. I am making it in Actionscript 3.0 - in flash 9 -. But I can't do the same  . Please help me.......to solve it.

I haven't done any Actionscript at all, but I'm pretty sure that you have no access what so ever to the file system of the client computer.

Question:
How can I access to Images whitch are stored in the main directory /images/button2b.gif in a website that is stored in a subdirectory /member/default2.aspx?
My Problem:
I have a site in a subdirectory /member/default2.aspx
with the following code:

My images are in the main directory ../images/button2c.gif
The code onmouseover="this.src='~/images/button2c.gif';" doesn't go. It search the image in the subdirectory /member/image/button2c.gif but the image is in the main folder /images/button2c.gif.
Do you have any tips?

I tried it without ~, but it search the images in the subfolder /member/images instead of /images, because the website is in the folder /member/default.aspx

That is weird..
prefixing a url with a '/' should make it go to the root directory. try '../'

The tilde (or squiggly) is used by APS.NEY server controls to resolve paths, it won't work for html elements.

The squiggly thing is an asp.net construct for server side web controls that tells the web app to reference the root directory of your application, the client side (eg. web browsers) won't understand what it means.
If you use just /folder/file.gif instead the client browser will know to reference the root instead. However, what that root is depends on how you're developing your application. If you're developing inside a virtual directory, or using Visual Studio built in web server, using slash / will always refer to the root localhost path. Eg. http://localhost:1413/ and NOT http://localhost:1413/YOURAPPNAME/. So if you reference a file as /images/myPic.jpg, it will look in http://localhost:1413/images/myPic.jpg and NOT http://localhost:1413/YOURAPPNAME/images/myPic.jpg. This will work fine once you upload it to your web server to the root address (www.yoursite.com/images/myPic.jpg) but is obviously a problem during development.
You can solve this a number of ways. One is to use server web controls like <asp:Image> tag and reference them as ~/folder which ASP.NET understands and translates automatically for you. Alternatively try using Parent paths such as ../folder, the dot dot tells the browser to go back one directory the look it 'folder'. Finally, try outputting application name dynamic eg. YOURAPPNAME when developing on your server, and nothing (or blank string) for the root for when you deploy it. I think the ASP.NET web control is the best root (pardon the pun).

guys!
need ur advice I'm a Computer Science graduate and presently working in a bank as a customer servcie representative, and I'm planning to shift a career, Because my interest is really in IT , but I'm not confident enough to shift a career maybe because I'm not good in programming and I don't have work exposure in IT which really bothers me a lot.
What are the things should I have to do in order to find a job that fits me?
Does taking short courses (related in IT; such as Web designing and etc.) will help me to find a suitable job?

Ok two things,
1.0: Wrong forum!!
2.0: It depends on what qualifications you want to get. I wouldn't care if you had a doctorate in HTML coding, because anyone can do that. The best way in my opinion is to create a portfolio with examples of your work. (If it's a smallish company then JS (especially Ajax) really impresses people.) (also xml and XSLT's are quite impressive).

Shifting a carrier is never easy and it’s 100% normal not to feel very confident with your skill set. One thing to keep in mind is that you will have to start climbing the ladder again from the very first step. The good thing is that you have already started climbing a different ladder so it will be a familiar process for you.
My advice is to be clear and direct about your skill set. Start learning proper HTML and CSS. Start reading blogs and articles about the web industry.

I'm writing a custom web component that allows you to explicitly specify the options in nested tags inside of the component's begin and end tags. My component is inheriting from System.Web.UI.WebControls.DropDownList so that it can read in the properties and item tags, and supports selecting an item by adding Selected to the items tag.
Unfortunately, when none of the items are selected, the component is being rendered with the first item selected anyway.
Anyone seen this happen before?

I created a minimum costom component for the drop down list with no additional properties, using only the following, other than the imports:

With the Render method my control renders fine, but using the RenderControl method causes the first option in the drop down list to be selected, even if it isn't in the controls definition in my the webpage. If it is selected then the control is rendered fine.

In my real custom control I can't use the MyBase.Render as that's not actually what I want my component to be. Instead I build my ComboBox component inside of a table, along with a number of other contols (a textbox, a listbox, an image, etc.), and then use the table.rendercontrol method to output the whole thing, and like the above simple drop down list, if you don't have a selected option, the render control "will appoint one for you". 
Anyone know if there is a switch or something to turn off this behavior?

While digging in to this deeper I found out that inheriting from DropDownList caused this behavior, so I changed my custom object to ListBox, which doesn't automatically select an option for you.

I can run the ASP website below and others from VS 2005 (not using IIS), but not from IIS without getting the error message below. I am running IIS on my desk PC which has XP Professional as an OS. Can anyone solve this mystery?

Here is the solution for my particular situation from on-line sources:
1)
Repair the IIS mappings so that the file name extensions for ASP.NET are properly associated:
To repair IIS mappings for ASP.NET running under XP, run the Aspnet_regiis.exe utlity. To do so, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Run.
a. Type cmd, and then click OK.
b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
"\WindowsFolder\Microsoft.NET\Framework\VersionNumber>\aspnet_regiis.exe" -i
Note Replace WindowsFolder with the name of the directory where the operating system is installed. Replace VersionNumber with the .NET Framework version installed on your computer.
2)
You need to select the appropriate ASP.NET version for your website. You can do so by following these steps using XP:
a. Go to Control Panal --> Administrative Tools --> IIS and right-click on your website's root virtual directory.
b. Click on Properties and go to the ASP.NET tab.
c. Select the appropriate version for your website (if you're running v5.x or older, you need ASP.NET v1.1; if you're running v6.x, you need ASP.NET v2.0).

I'm trying to write a simple javascript script that will enable the web page to send commands to my proxy server that I'm developing.
However it appears that both Firefox and IE block any attempt to use the XMLHttpRequest object to send web requests.
Is there ANY way I can get javascript to send ANY kind of information over the wire that my proxy server can intercept and provide custom services?

I don't completely understand, are you saying that IE and Firefox aren't letting you make Ajax calls?
The XMLHttpRequest does send web requests.
In addition what sort of proxy are you using?

I wrote a simple script that calls open( "GET", url, true ); and the Error Console in Firefox says, "Permission denied to call method XMHttpRequest.open"
The proxy is something I'm developing. It's going to be an intercepting proxy.
In the code below, the alert( "Request sent" )never gets called:
