I have an ASP.NET form with about 20 textboxes and several dropdown lists. Is there a way to send all of the information to my database handling routines - other than creating 30+ parameters?

Hi ,

yur can use model class for that. create one class which contains all set and get property and then create object of that calss that object will contain all parameter and finally pass this object to the database .

hi,

in your model class two property is defined like this

private int caseId;
private string dbnumber;

public int CaseId
{
get{return caseId;}
set{caseId=value;}
}
public string DBNumber
{
get{return dbnumber;}
set{dbnumber=value;}
}

this is your two property in model class and u can access this two property by using model class object like this

Model.Case objModelCase = new Model.Case();

case is the model class and objModelCase is the object of case class

objModelCase.DBNumber=txtDrNumber.Text;
objModelCase.CaseId=txtCase.Text;

and finally u can paas this objModelCase object to database.

i think this will solve your problem.

And you think anyone drops a line of code, and you have yourself a custom made search engine on your website?? I think you should provide us lots of additional information.

Just to start
- Find the seach string in the database
- Look within the search results and find 'best matches'
- Order the search results
- Display them

Hi all ,

in my web page i am inputting like asggg in text box. then it is giving error trace as below

A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (TxtBName="aa").
Description: Request Validation has detected a potentially dangerous client input value, and processing of the request has been aborted. This value may indicate an attempt to compromise the security of your application, such as a cross-site scripting attack. You can disable request validation by setting validateRequest=false in the Page directive or in the configuration section. However, it is strongly recommended that your application explicitly check all inputs in this case.

Exception Details: System.Web.HttpRequestValidationException: A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (TxtBName="aa").

If i set to validateRequest=false , then it is not giving the error, but people says there is some security problems.. i don't know what to do..

i want to know what is this error and how to rectify in some other way..

Question:
How can I access to Images whitch are stored in the main directory /images/button2b.gif in a website that is stored in a subdirectory /member/default2.aspx?

My Problem:
I have a site in a subdirectory /member/default2.aspx

with the following code:

<input type=image id="InputImage2" src="~/images/button2b.gif"
onmouseover="this.src='~/images/button2c.gif';"
onmouseout="this.src='~/images/button2b.gif';"
runat="server" onserverclick="InputImage2_ServerClick"/>

My images are in the main directory ../images/button2c.gif

The code onmouseover="this.src='~/images/button2c.gif';" doesn't go. It search the image in the subdirectory /member/image/button2c.gif but the image is in the main folder /images/button2c.gif.

Do you have any tips?

suppose that your column index is 2(i.e. the second column).
then inside the dg_find_result_EditCommand, find your DropDownList, like this:

Dim DDL As DropDownList = CType(grdItem.Cells(0).Controls(1), dropdownlist), then write the code to bind your DropDownList.

Hi,

Use a regular form (not a runat="server" form), set method="post" and action to the url of the second page. Put some form fields in the form and submit the form.

To answer the question, you could use a regular form and retrieve the posted data on the second page using Request.Form["textboxName"], as Guffa says. Alternatively, if you're using ASP.NET 2.0 you could use Cross-Page Posting instead, and keep everything with runat="server".

In your first page set the PostBackUrl property for your button like this...

<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtMessage" /><br />
<asp:Button runat="server" ID="btnMyButton" PostBackUrl="SecondPage.aspx" Text="Click Me" />

...then in your SecondPage.aspx page...

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />

    if(this.PreviousPage != null)<br />
    {<br />
        lblSomeLabel.Text = this.PreviousPage.Request.Form["txtMessage"];<br />
    }<br />
}<br />

There's more to it though, do a search. If you're doing something relatively simple then it's probably better to use Guffa's approach.
