Hi I am having some trouble with my asp.net web app menu as more people use it or the more it is used, the larger the aspnet_wp.exe process gets until it finally causes the app to crash so I’m just wondering if anyone knows any reason why this would be happening or any way of solving this problem, any help or advice would be appreciated, Thanks in advance Tim

Is it possible that your request gets served by multiple aspnet_wp.exe worker processes..... There is some settings you should be able to use to configure your IIS server to do so. That should prevent you from crashing worker process.. instead it should start new process as defined by your settings....

im not really sure about multiple processes but there is never more than one of the process in the process list in task manager

are you disposing of your objects correctly?
i.e datasets etc, sql connections
|
|
|
|
|
i dispose of most objects myself but not all of them as i thought that the garbage collection would look after uneeded objects and connections, would a build up of these actually cause the app to keep crashing until the process is killed???

Yeah I have had some experience with objects that have not been disposed of correctly hanging around and eventually ending in process swell, but I would think it is unlikely in your case.
The other way I have experienced is when using SQL reporting services and the repeater control.
but I am all out of ideas here

you want help in how to detect that a server is down by using a web service ?
Well , if thats the case, then i will advice that you use a windows service with a timer that connects/ping... a server at each elapsed interval of time.Hope I helped...

Hi,
I have a usercontrol that I need to add to certain pages. Now, this user control must show an aspx page I get from another server.
How can I include this url to the user control.
I bind my usercontrol to the page by:
<br />
Dim ucInformation as UserControl = LoadControl("ucInformation.ascx")<br />
panel1.controls.add(ucInformation)

Have a public property in the user control that you can set.

Hi,
I have a current project which will require exchange of information. I think this forum type of communication will be the best way for that.
Can anybody send me a tutorial on how to do this kind of website like this forum that we are using.
Anybody's help will be gretaly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance.

Hi, that kind of question is not likely to be answered by any one im afraid.
Asking someone how to create a whole website is a little foolish to say the least.
It would suggest you are either a little lazy / impatient or do not know enough about .Net to be tackling the project in the first place.
However, as i dont want to sound too patronising i will say the following:
A forum is simply a series of pages which allow you to add data to a database, and then retrieve it and display it in a given format.

Download the starter kits from http://www.asp.net/downloads/starterkits/default.aspx?tabid=62[^] and go from there.

Hi guys,
Here's the scenario.
1. We have an intranet
2. User information is maintained in Active Directory
3. Building a new page in ASP.NET 1.1 and CSharp
4. Need to display username from Active Directory
inside tags
5. Just a note: When we login to the PC, we log in to
a domain, ex. domain --> xyz, not to the local machine.
Thanks.

how do i make ONE picturebox which displays an array of pictures, one at a time? it has to be like a slide show, but the pictures have to change by themselves, no need to click or anything. the pictures have to change every 5 seconds or so.
please and thanks

Use JavaScript in stead of an string array which requires a postback to the server. Write a javascript with an array of url's and change the image object's source property using a timer... Would look like this
<br />
<script language="JavaScript"><br />
<br />
var YourImages;<br />
YourImages = new Array(2);<br />
YourImages[0] = '/images/one.jpg';<br />
YourImages[1] = '/images/two.jpg';<br />
<br />
var Counter = 0;<br />
<br />
function DisplayNewImage()<br />
{<br />
Counter++;<br />
if (Counter >= YourImages.length){ Counter = 0; }<br />
imgMyImage.src = YourImages[Counter];<br />
setTimeout("DisplayNewImage()", 5000);<br />
}<br />
setTimeout("DisplayNewImage()", 5000);<br />
</script><br />
Don't blame me on litte stupid errors on this code, i wrote it on the fly, but i should be near the correct solution of your problem

Hi,
i want to save an existing aspx web page as an image (jpeg,png etc.). How can i do that.
i know System.Drawing.Imaging namespace holds the key for this conversion to occur....but somehow i am unable to use it correctly.
Please guide me as to how can i save an aspx page as an image and then display it on the browser as an image or thumbnail.
thanks & regards

Maybe im wrong but i really dont see how this is possible.
Converting an image to a thumb is a whole different process to converting a dynamic webpage into an image.
