Is there a way to update it then without actually having a script on the server? I hear you can do it with a Sql DB.

Nope.

SQL is the language that you use to query the database, it has nothing to do with how you connect to the database. Access also uses SQL.
I suppose that you mean Microsoft SQL Server. That is a database server, in contrast to Access that is a file based database. You can connect to a database server from anywhere, but for a file based solution you need direct access to the actual file.

Hi Almerica.
First, has you been thinked that if the Virtual connection to a Access Db was possible do you really want make it?.
Remember this, When you open a Microsoft Access DB with OleDb, this block the file for other users.
Why don't try using Free DataBases like MySQL.
I'd suppouse that these have more powerful that Access.

If you really need do it with Access, You can do it with WebServices, sending XML to client.

I am working on a Winforms app that has two database's defined in the datasources page.
One is a WinMobile database(.sdf). The other is a Paradox database(ODBC).
I need to do a couple of things.
1.First Insert all records from the clients table, and other related tables in the Paradox database to the Client's table and other related tables in the WinMobile database.
2. When that is done I will need to be able to read the records that are new or changed(already defined in tables) in each table and sycronize them in both databases.
In Delphi I did this in a similar app for Palm databases with While loops.
table1.first
while not table1.eof (end of database table)
do begin
add records to table2....
table1.next
What is the best way in C#? While loops or SQL? Some C# syntax pointers would be greatly appreciated too. I need as much guidance as I can get

I seem to remember that the .NET Dataset has a "Merge" capability. This might do exactly what you're after.
Just taken a quick look at the documentation, looks like what you have to do is fill in one dataset from the ODBC database, fill another from the mobile database. Then on the ODBC version call Merge passing the mobile one to it.

In the Paint event for an application, I have the potential of two different background image properties that are assigned in the application. Each of the background image properties could be assigned to a particular control based upon conditions in the application.
The question is: How do I uncover which background image is assigned to the control and perform a comparison? The code is as follows:

i don't under stand your problem completely
but if you created a control why don't you create a property which will give a certain value with each picture
for example you have two images which can be chosen for your control take a bool variable assign it true if the image 1 is chosen or false for the other one

I guess what I would need to know is how do I retrieve the path to the background image of the control into a string so that I could perform a comparison between that string path and strNewBackPath? The way the code is currently structured is I am comparing objects which is an inherently flawed idea. That is, as I understand it, one object will invariably be different from another object iteration. Thus, how would I retrieve the background image path as a string so that I could perform the comparison?

The complication with storing the variable name at the time that each of the controls are dynamically created and an image is assigned to each of them is that there would simply be too many variables. What would be really useful is if there would be code such as the following:
string strBackgroundPath = ctrl.BackgroundImage.getPath();
That way I could perform a comparison like so:
if (strBackgroundPath = strNewBackPath)
{
}
...
I do not know which control is being painted at the time it reaches the paint event handler. That is why I would need to be able to retrieve it inside the paint event handler. The only way that I could do it would be to retrieve the path of the ctrl.backgroundimage at that time.
Is there a way to retrieve the background image path as a string from the ctrl.BackgroundImage property?

are you using custom controls then create path property in them
else create a class for which will store your your control name and path and create a method in it which will take the name of control and return the path
or simply store them in array
as far as i know there is no such direct property in most of the control
however picture box do have image location property but i don't think it will gonna help you

Yes, I am using a custom control. Perhaps you are right with your suggestion to add a property called path to the control itself which would hold the string value of the path to the background image.
However, it has been some time since I have been exposed to how to extend the properties to a control, and then only in VB. Could you kindly point me toward a C# version of an article for how to extend the property of a control so that when I am in the Paint Event I could do this:
string strBackgroundPath = ctrl.Path;
I would really appreciate a primer on how to extend the properties of a control in C#. Thanks!!!

OK. I did as you had suggested and modifed the control with the extension of the property. At the places where the control is assigned the backgroundimage property, I found the "Path" property as specified. I made the assignment of the backgroundimage value to this new Path property that we added to the customized control.
However, when I attempt to retrieve the value of the path property, it does not show up in the Intellisense drop down list. I should add that the place where I am attempting to retrieve the value from is in a public sealed event handler class. Also, the variables and classes in this sealed class are all implement the static keyword.
The control that is addressed in the Paint event handler of this public sealed event handler class is retrieved utilizing the Control ctrl = ((Control)sender) code, and this ctrl was implemented utilizing the customized control class that was modified to include the Path property. When I remove the "sealed" key word from the event handler class, it still does not show the new Path property.
What are the requirements to enable the Intellisense drop down list to show the property "Path" that we added to the customized control?

I am facing issue that my code executes fine in english environment but not in German and Dutch envionment. I am adding a method in thread pool to run it in async way then I redirect to some other web page. Here what happens in non english env. parent thread terminate before calling async method. Any idea???

You can make the parent thread wait for the thread pool's thread by calling EndInvoke on the delegate instance. Something like

Which "namespace" is required?

You'll probably need to go through WMI if you want to enumerate the sound devices. After that I don't know and don't have the time at the moment to look into it.
