hi,
i need to use split() but i need to split string depends on complete word such as "welcome" and i put split("welcome") but the problem that the string include just three welcome but it gave me more that 60 when i asked
lines.length-1
and when i but instead of welcome "w" letter and used split("w") it gave me the wanted value which is 3
i dont know why , i need to split whole word please help me

It looks like VB is "helpful" here, and automatically converts your string to an array of characters, so that you are splitting on any of the characters in the string, not the whole string.
Put the string in an array of strings and use the array in the call to Split.
If you only want to count the occurances, a Regex is better suited for this.

Hello !
I've been trying to rename accounts in Active Directory.
Where I can easily modify sn, givenName, UserPrincipalName, samAccountName or DisplayName, I can't figure a way to modify the cn.
Is there a way to modify a cn ? 
I always get an error -2147016682 / 0x80072016.
The same applies to distinguishedName or canonicalName. No idea if they can be modified. If I try I get a constraint violation -2147016654 / 0x8007202f.
Do I have to clone the account with the new name ? or is there an obvious way to do that ?
I'm not too sure this belongs to the VB section of the boards but couldn't figure where to put it.

Hi,
I am Jats.I have a requirement in my project to connect to various Search engines no net & find out the plagiarism in the particular sentence or a file.
I am thinking to devl. a software(vb.net) which can connect to various search engines & search for plagiarism's in the text inputted.
I am not able to figure out how to connect my application to search engine and how to pass the text to the search engine.
Can any one plz help regarding this. Any links or suggestions.

I think you're gonna have one helluva time with this one.
I think your best bet for trying to achieve something like this is to use Google search API's. Here are two links that may help.

I am translating a VB program to VB.net and cant find any information on toggle buttons. If one button is clicked(True) then in another Sub I want to use it for a comparison.
Old VB code:
If caddaily.Value = True And cadx.Value = False Then cadtrade = True
where caddaily,cadx are toggle buttons that stays depressed once clicked.
What would the code be in VB.net to do the same thing?

The CheckBox has a property to show a button instead of a little box. It supports button images that stay "pushed".

I am translating a program to VB.net and when I created the form in VB.net, the toggle button does not stay down(visually) like it does in the old VB. I have read about picking the style in properties, but that option is not in my properties for that button. Thanks in advance.

They have a property called "DropDownStyle". This property has "Simple", "DropDown" and "DropDownList". You want the last one.

How do you block Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+Tab and the windows logo button? Im making a small program called desktopShield that blocks access to the desktop and only allow access to whatever form is tied to 'Esc'.
I found some code that can block keys. But I can't figure out how to target the key and key combinations that I want to block.

Hi all,
I am getting really stressed and I am hoping someone could help me out. I am trying to update a record into a table in MS Access database using table adapters in VB.net 2005.
