Hi,
I m working on ASP.NET 1.1 & i m using DataList to display some of data with picture. As all the data is bounded by using DataBinder.Eval command into labels. It works perfectlly, but i m binding a Picture by defining it in code
Convert.ConvertType(DataListName.Item[index].FindControl("controlName"),typeof(Image)).ImageUrl
But this line creates error says .Image is ambigous
Any body can help me how to bind image from codebehind in the display list

Well I have asked about shoing images in DataList..so do u think this will also work for DataList in C# caus i have tried this thing also..but it not works
I have got another solution ..but its not the proper way. any proper way to do it...

I have the same problem to.. I use data binding where theres a path to import image and display it into Listbox. but in my listbox there's appear only my path of my image source. Help me..

Hello,
I have a control where MyControl.NavigateUrl = "~/RSS.ashx?Channel=News&Culture=pt-PT".
When I preview the web page the hyperlink becomes:
"...RSS.ashx"
The Channel and Culture just disappeared.
I tried many combinations and I allways get a truncate Query String somewhere in it.
Could somebody tell me what is going on here and how to solve this?
Should I change something in my Web.Config?

Try giving path name like this
"../RSS.ashx?Channel=News&Culture=pt-PT".
or
"//RSS.ashx?Channel=News&Culture=pt-PT".
or if possible give the full path.Don't use this symbol "~"

Hi,
I am very new to web development...I have a strong background in networking. I have been tasked with creating an intranet for work. Anyway, my problem follows:
I created a form in Dreamweaver, using an ASP.NET VB page... I have a listbox that lists all of the values in a particular column in SQL. I want a datagrid to display the results of a query based on the item selected from the listbox. I created a dataset in dreamweaver as well. I am only able to make it work if I put "contains" in the filter criteria. If I put the value should be "equal to" the form it stops working. HELP Please ...

for example
i have a form in the cliente and next in the even blur of id textbox i call with javascript a web services and this return answer for me all this in the cliente..
well i have the answer in the fiel hidden for next in the server side can read the value in this fiel hidden
imagin what i have a par of the call web services and thi same way of par return so i use many fiel hidden
it is bad technique
some one can guide me o have article about this

In JavaScript, if I have an object, such as a select list, is there a way to determine its parent document, given that the object may exist inside of an iFrame?
I know that you can use the objSelList.form to get the parent form that the select list "lives" in, but I don't see a document attribute for the select list object or the form object, so I don't think I simply "walk" my way back to the parent document from just any sub-object.
I know that there is a forms object collection the document object, which could be searched for a match on the select's form attribute, but this would only work for the page's top level. Perhaps, I could have to "dig" into each iForm's contentDocument to see if a match could be made there. I haven't tested this yet.
But, is there an easier or better way?

I'm trying to create a combo box component in ASP.Net 1.0 using a text box and a select list (where size is greater than 1 so it shows as a list box) nested in an iFrame.
For the moment, I want to populate the select list with option items from an existing select list in the main page (the one that contains the iFrame). So I first wrote a JavaScript that can do this for select lists that both "live" in the main page:
function CopySelectList( SrcSelectList, DstSelectList ) { ... }
I currently am able to populate the DstSelectList by calling the function using a button with its OnClick event set to:
"CopySelectList( form1.SrcSelectList, form1.DstSelectList );"
Now I want modify this so that the destination select list can exist in an iFrame. So
I changed JavaScript call to:
"CopySelectList( form1.SrcSelectList, form1.iFrame1.contentDocument.form1.DstSelectList );"
But, this doesn't work. Is this the proper way to reference an object located in the form1 frame inside of the iFrame1 iframe?

Hello, I embedded a C# applet in my ASP.Net webpage. The applet needs access to the clients resources to perform some tasks (save a file & listen to sound card for speech buffer). Is there anyway for me to allow the applet to run on the client machine without the user on the client’s end doing too much work. I guess I am looking for something like a security certificate or something along those lines.

Hi there,
Email Validation Question
I am building a site using ASP.NET.
I want to build a form where users can send an email to friends (multiple friends) using one of my webforms. The addresses are put into one multi-line text box with commas to sepaerate each email address.
The problem is validation.
I am using a regular expression which works great for validation one address.
Does anyone know how I can validate multiple addresses from one text box?

I'm trying to find out what the best practices are, based on both security & ease of use, for users who are logged into your website.
I'm currently using a combo of session objects & forms authentication however I've experienced a few problems with forms authentication such as random logouts at inopportune moments and users being redirected to the login page while they're viewing a smaller popup window, so I'm looking to remove that feature from my web site & implement something else.
Does anyone know of a good tutorial for ways to properly setup user logins?

well, I myself have been looking to improve my standard practice for asp.net authentication.
From what I've seen, the best practice is to drop using Session at all for storing anything related to authentication, and JUST use forms authentication. Now by default all you will know about a user at the beginning of a request is their "name" which will be their username. (you can access this with this.User.Name in any codebehind). Then you will likely need the UserId in order to do anything. You have 2 choices it seems. Either hit the DB on every request to grab the UserId from the username, or cache that pertinent information in the cache. the popforums.com source code has an example of storing it in the cache. For myself, I just hit the db on every request. Unless you're looking at an extremely high usage site, that extra hit won't cause any performance problems compared to all the other stuff going on in a page.
If anyone has any better ideas I'd love to see them.

i've tried to get the login name from the http request (Request.ServerVariables) but in my machine i get the name right,from other computers i get (ASPNET user), so i get the name of the computer that has requested the page from http request then i create active directory searcher and loop through the result until i find the pc then i try to get its login name from the active directory but sometimes it would not work and i get some problems in my site bussiness rules due to the errors in the search.
So i need another way to do it.

Am assigning a dataset to dataview and trying to sort dataview.
But, its not sorting.
DataView dv = new DataView(DataSet.Tables[0]);
dv.Sort = "ColName";
Please help me as this is urgent.

The DataView doesn't sort the DataTable. Make sure that you are not still referencing the DataTable object, because the DataTable will still NOT be sorted. You will have to reference the DataView object to utilize the sorting. Otherwise your code looks okay, so if you need more help you'll have to give us some more information about how you are using the DataView object after you sort it.

I was trying to send a number from a HTML textbox to add a value to it at the Server, then return it to an ASP textbox.
But I don't know to to pass the value of the HTML textbox to the server.
The 2 Javascript functions are:

As u show here your callback function can pass Argument to server...
U just simply put it on your UseCallBack Function of javascript...
Use

Now on Server Side U can get this value by RaiseCallBackEvent funtion
