Hi
How we can allow deleting mulitple items at once.Assume we have a DataList web control that is populated with some items from database and we place a check box under each item.Then the user can select items using the checkboxes after that the user can click delete button to delete all selected items at once.How we can do this ? please tell me with nice details. I need to use this technique in a project soon. Please help me.

you can send the IDs of the rows in a comma separated file to your stored procedure and there using cursors you can delete the records separetely.

I dont know how to use cursors and I dont want to. I have a method in my data layer that lets me delete records one by one.My problem is how to retrieve those IDs please tell me.

you can get the IDs by iterating through all the rows and then checking whether they are selected or not. But in your case there will be so many round trips to database which will decrease the performance of yor application.

Can you show me how I can use cursor technique . Show me a Stored Procedure that gets a comma seperated list of IDs and delete the records using cursor.

Thanks for your help. In that cursor example it just uses cursor to fetch records.Can you please show me how to use cursor to delete records.How does it make sense ?

Normally what happens in cursor is it fetches the record and do the operation. There in that example it is fetching the record and then printing some value. That is where you can do your delete operation.

Not able to read the value from App.config file

I want to read the security key value from App.config file. Below is the procedure which I did :

Create a new config file name as App.config

In the App.config file:
Added this:
<appsettings>

<add key="SecurityKey" value="MyNewKey">

After that I did the following:

System.Configuration.AppSettingsReader settingsReader
= new AppSettingsReader();

when i am debugging these, i find that the value of dimension is 0 which supposed to 1. since there is one key-value present in the App.config

string key = (string)settingsReader.GetValue("SecurityKey", typeof(String));

Also it's throwing an exception stating

“The key "SecurityKey" does not exist in the appSettings configuration section”.--which already present in the App.config.

Also i tried with the second scenario:

string key =
System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["SecurityKey"];

which giving me the key value null.

Do i required to do some setting for reading the "SecurityKey" Value?

If your web.config appSettings sections looks like the following:
<appsettings>
<add key="SecurityKey" value="my new key">

You can then use ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["SecurityKey"] to access it.

Hi,
In Itemdatabound event of grid
I want to hide row if preceding row contain some conditional data.

I mean

In that case what you can do is to take a boolean variable and then when you meet the requirement then boolean variable to true and then check for that boolean vale and make that particular row hidden. isn't it? Smile | :)
