In code, how would i add, romove, clear and access items on a string collection in my.settings. I am doing a search of a directory, pulling out selected files and adding their names to the string list but when i go to access these items, there is no returned value, i dont get error, it's just, nothing happens.

Hi,
Hash Tables can contain lots of objects and are very useful. But if you want to organise a whole bunch of TCPClient objects are they the way to go or is there some other way? If Hashtables are the best way to go then how would you go about checking when data has arrived and knowing which object to send data from? And where would threading come into this? Would you create a hashtable of threads running TCPClients or create a new thread only when needed?
You've probably guessed I'm trying to develop my own server class, there's no specific reason for this aside from the fact I want to learn how to do this sort of thing.
Any help is appreciated.

Start simple. Use a new thread for each TCPClient. Actually, use one thread for the TCPListener to get new connections. On each new connection (TCPClient), invoke a new thread to handle it. When the TCPClient closes, you let the thread finish.
In real world use, you'll find that this is very effective and a lot more scalable than you might at first think.

ok i know that one must use the SetMenuItemBitmaps API to add a bitmap on a menu.. .BUT.. it is limited ONLY to a about a 13 X 13 pic.THe icons kinda get clipped if they're bigger.. BUT I know it is possible to hav a SLIGHTLY bigger icon on a menu.There are so many apps with about a 16*16 icon. Infact the min. size SHOULD be about 16 X 16.
Does anyone know how to do that?? ... perhaps.. by using BitBlt

hie,
thanx for nothing.. i found out myself;P... you use the LoadImage API.. and specify 16 *16 in the size params and the icon resizes ... !... ALSO.. thanx to some1 on another forum.. i found out although loadImage loads from a file , YOU CAN specify a resource ID .. instead of a .ico file..BUT this will not work in the IDE. :->

I'm using a 'regular expression validator' to valid use input on a text box
I have two different web pages that use the same validation expression criteria for two different text boxes; one of them works, the other does not work. I dont understand why
The field is 3 alpha characters followed by 3 numeric. Doesn't matter if they are caps or small letters
I use \w{3} to signify alpha and \d{3} to signify numeric. It works on one page ( adding a new record ) but on another page ( view existing records)
it only works if I turn cap locks on for alph and turn it off for numeric and even then it is not consistent
Any thoughts?

About a year ago I created a usercontrol in VB 6. I use in in an MFC app that I wrote in VC++ 6. On the dev (WinXP) machine the control functions fine and the dialog box appears. On the target machine (also WinXP) the dialog box will not appear at all. I believe that my ActiveX control is not initializing so the dialog aborts. I checked and the ocx file is registered on the target machine (C:\Windows\System32\myctrl.ocx).
I need help figuring out why there is a problem.

When I use get files function, ie:
di.getfiles(searchpattern as string)
Is it possible to have more than one search pattern? e.g.(as oppose to just .jpg image files, how would i 'get' .jpg and .bmp and .gif and .png)

No, you can only have one search pattern.
You can make one search for each pattern, or you could get all files and filter them yourself.

In .NET 2.0 you can seach subfolders. Example:

Hi,
I am trying to get the files in folder using this function and showing these files in an OpenFileDialog, and it is done.
But I am trying to get these files using the same function but I wanna use a DropDownList to select some file in the folder.... may some body has an idea to do that????

I recently created a program that gets all the files of a certain format from a directory then adds them to a combobox, the user could then select the file they wanted, using this info, on what they had selected, i was able to use the file because i knew it's directory, name and format.
If u want to fill a combobox using a similar method do this. (keep in mind, i was searching for images and removing the .jpg from the end of the image names)
Browse is a folder browser dialog. comSelect is a combobox on my form.
Using a browse button the user chose a folder and then clicked ok, my program then use this info to get all the .jpg files from that folder and added each to a combobox

I need to create a copy function so I can have two objects and compare them. This is what I have thus far:

Basically what I am doing is looking up the bracing information. There are different bracing configurations such as X. The problem is that in the X bracing, some of the types of the enumeration do not exist. It has a diagonal (0), horizontal (1) but once it gets to internal (2) I get the null reference object error which makes sense.
This is not my code, my boss wanted me to change the code using a dictionary object.
Any ideas how to fix this short of using if statements based on the bracing configuration?
Is there a real benefit to using dictionaries? (VB programming dictionaries before the jokes come in.)

I get a dataset returned by a webservice.
I'd like to put the data from the dataset into an infragistics ultradatasource and then hook up the ultradatasource to an ultradatagrid.
Could someone give me some idea how I do that ? (I'm a newbie to this).

I'm building a Windows Service that converts any Office Document to PDF. So far it's working for Word,PowerPoint,Acces,OutLook, etc.. but for Excel always get the following error: Faulting application mspview.exe, version 11.0.1897.0, stamp 3ef1048b, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, stamp 411096b4, debug? 0, fault address 0x0001eb33. If you run the code in normal context, works fine, but when I put the same code in my service always get error ( also open DW20.exe and my computer stuck for a while).I think that is something realted with dialog box that Excel open when print sheets ( counting pages), but I'm not sure.
Has any experience for something similar? some ideas?
