1. How to check (on WinXP) whether current connection to internet has a public IP address (is NOT behind NAT)?

2.What cheap hosting sites that have appriopriate IIS for ASP.NET 2.0 could you recommend me? (I live in middle Europe)

To get the IP use something like

public string getClientIPaddress()
{
    string IPAddress = HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR"];
    if (IPAddress == null)
    {
        IPAddress = HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_ADDR"];
    }
    return IPAddress;
}

As for the host i'm not really the best to answer that, we have our own servers in a datacentre, I know there are good sites out there to show and compare them

And suppose I would like to check whether this connection on THIS computer to Internet has its own public IP address, but not neccessarly using ASP. Just having a typical WinXP command prompt. How to do that?

How to simulate a frameset under ASP.NET 2.0?
I mean:

suppose that our site should be divided into 4 parts, like that:

1 | 2
--|--
3 | 4

Site number 1 would be a classic "menu". When user selects an option from this menu, some page should be loaded into section number 2, other page into section 3, and other in section 4.

How to achieve that?
I suppose that could be done using master pages and "menu" or "treeview" navigation controls, but I tryed and I wasn`t succesfull Frown | :(

You could use <iframe> tags in your sections 2,3,4 and have your menu items in 1 be LinkButtons, with event handlers that set the src attributes of the iframes accordingly.

ASP.NET Forms Authentication and ATLAS

Hello,

I am using Forms Authentication in ASP.NET 2.0 website. I have also implemented UIP Application Blocks.
On one page I have used ATLAS Cascading Dropdown. The page looses session and redirects to login page on click of any link on the page. As soon as I replace cascading dropdown with dropdown control, it starts behaving correctly.

Any clue why this is happening? Why page looses session and redirects to login page. It even does not execute Page Load of the same page.

I appreciate any help regarding this.

Hi!

I retrieve a value from db in a textbox.,

That value has to go across.,

I tried that marquee in HTML I use this tag in that text box i couldn't get.,

How can we do this one..?

have you tried it by putting the textbox inside the marquee tag.

You could just place the marquee tag and add Response.Write(DBFuntion()); in the text place and it will work with u fine

Hello, everyone:
I am a newbie of asp.net. Now i am trying to use a datagrid to show a table with more than 2000 records to the web viewer with asp.net1.1. However, when displaying, it tells me that the process has taken more than 60% of the memory, the system calls back the resouce automatically. Finally the pages goes wrong.

In one word, What i am asking is whether there is a good approach to displaying a large table to the user? Is there anyone could help me? Thanks in advance! Rose | [Rose]

You can use paging concept. There you will just show 25 or 50 records initially and then next set of records depending upon the requirement.

However, i have to store query result in a datatable so that i could print or export these results latter. It is these query resutls that has taken out the resource, i think. Look forward to you further replying...;P

If it is required to get all the records in one stretch then also you can get the advantage of datagrid paging. What you need to do is to get the data in dataset and then assign it to the datagrid with paging enabled. Also the same you can have in the datatable. I hope i am understanding you problem correctly.

I want to add a text box when button is clicked. the problem that i am facing is that when i click the add button new textbox is created. but when i try to read the value of the textbox an exceptions occures that no textbox exist. If any one have idea send me a demo code in reply.

Hello!
Remember that the textbox is created pretty late in the event cycle - in the raise change events phase. The value can´t be accessed until after that. Try accessing the value in onPreRender and you should be fine. Big Grin | :-D

A context menu is made using client script (e.g. Javascript), so ASP.NET doesn't really have anything to do with it.

Hi,

Nothing is a stupid qn. I dont know which version u r using. You can achieve this by,

In the Design window, Select the Gridview and goto Properties. In that select Events....and Double Click on the appropiate enent u want from the left side event listing.

another simple solution

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
