hey

i m developing web appln using C#.. all of a sudden.. my IDE shows an error after i click debug i get a Message "Unable to start debuggin on the server.server does not support debugging of asp.net and ATL Server applications. run setup to install VS.net server components"

can sum one tell me wats this bout

Not sure but one thing you can try is to go to the command line and execute
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i

Hello all

in my asp.net 1.1 page.

If user closes the browser close button we are redirecting to the logout page and closing the browser.
for this onbeforeunload event i am calling java script which will navigates to the logout page & closes. This is working fine for IE.

same thing is not happening in Mozilla firefox browser 1.0

how to solve this problem?

Hi,

We are trying to convert word and excel to html format, we are using late binding to support different version of office. We have already taken care of setting dcom security to interactive user and also we have given [B]'launch and active'[/B] and [B]'Access permissions'[/B] for aspnet(Network service in case of 2003) user.

The problem is it works absolutely fine in some systems, but it will not work in some systems and throws error as Unauthorizedaccess for CreateObject call.

The only difference i could see in working and non working system is, in working system dcom services of excel and word are running with name like "Microsoft Excel Application", but in nonworking system these servies are runnig with GUID like "00020812-0000-0000-C000-000000000046", and this is just a difference i saw I am really not sure whether problem is because of this only or not.

PS: We are no supposed to impersonate aspnet user, so in our web confgi we set impersoantion to false.

Your aspnet user does not have correct permissions to run that file ( the actual executable for word )

The subject is abit incorrect.

Let me describe briefly;
I am doing a project in .NET 2.0. C#. I have DetailsView control where user can add date and occasion to the database, thus display it in a gridview. But I wish that user can select the date from the calendar instead of typing. What is the correct syntax to write the code when the date is selected from the calendar?

Hi there. One suggestion is to substitute a TemplateField for your date's BoundField, add a TextBox and Calendar control to the EditTemplate, then use something like this for code:

    TextBox tb = (TextBox)DetailsView1.FindControl("TextBox1")

If you dont mind that it is not windows control, but html control then place this on your page:

Actualy windows control cannot be placed in webform, maybe you mean WebControl. If you want to use WebControl to close your page, then do it like this:

In placeholder you can put controls or tables or panels but not webform
instead of that you can use frameset
dropdownlist in one frame
page in other frame

when dropdown item is changed redirect to repective page

string strpagename=ddlForms.selectedItem.value;

I think you should convert your Forms to UserControls, it is very easy and you can display selected control in your placeholder

Hi Friends,

While I am trying to connect to the database server I am getting the following error.
ERROR: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

I checked my web.config file. I didnt find any errors in this.

Please help me to solve this.

I am using VS 2005 and SQL Server 2000

And you have not mentioned that whether the SQL Server you want to use is on same machine or LAN some where. If you are using a network SQL Server then this error may occur because the TCP/IP or Named Pipes may not be set in ur SQL Server.
Please specify the complete details about the location of SQL Server.
