not at all, C++ all the way (occasionally vb.net), just don't like gui tools for designing web pages, they are unnecessary.

And what is wrong with assembly for Windows coding?? 
I have written some ASM code for our app at work that speeds things up for our product. I also have a small freeware app that I had done in only assembly that I have on my site. Its not that hard but alot of people now-a-days were never taught anything about it.

I'm new to C# and now i need help in saving a .doc file with pre-filled information and use bookmarks to update certain aspects of data in that file like address and name, taken from a database.

You need "microsoft primary interop assemblies" . Search for that on google and download the ones that correspond to you version of Office. To do what you want, you need to have office installed on your machine(remmember that).
Now if you are familiar with VBA syntax, its easy to work with the word document model in C#. Its basically very similar to doing that in VBA.

I have a DataGrid in a web page which displays results. Now I
want to show some string contents instead of numeric values of a field.
For example I have a field "Type" with (0/1) values and I want to show
(Individual/Company) instead of (0/1) numbers.

Hi,
I am trying to get an image url to open in an IFrame based on a dropdown selection.

I think this will get me the selected item, now i have two problems.
The url for the image will be in an array in javascript (soon as i figure out how to populate this array when the page first loads.)
The dropdown selected index will correspond to an item in this array so i need to retrieve that URL for that image and display it in an Iframe or picture control on the page.
Why all this hassle?? because we cannot use postbacks...
Any help is appreciated

You can always churn out the javascript array alongside your page when it renders, otherwise you need to use XmlHttpRequest to get the data without postbacks.
To set an image control's source in JavaScript, you just need to specify document.getElementById('imgId').src = 'YourImageUrl'.
If you are using a frame you can use document.getElementById('frameId').document.getElementById('imgId').src = 'YourImageURL'.
May I suggest an easier way for dynamic HTML?
Anthem.Net[^] has AJAX-like (i.e. postback without refreshing page) controls that you can use and program the same way as ASP.Net controls without you needing to worry on the JavaScript and DHTML bit.

I had a brief overview of CSS2.1 specs (http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/) but could not find what am looking for. I am wondering if it's possible to define a class more than once and the definitions get merged together.
eg.

table.panel,
table.tree
{font-family: Arial, Verdnana, Geneva, Helvetica, sans-serif;}

{font-family: Arial, Verdnana, Geneva, Helvetica, sans-serif;}

Basically I want all panel & tree class to have same font-family, but only the tree class to have additional text-transform & height adjustments.
Is there a better way to do this?

Yes, that works just fine.
If you look up texts about precedence in css, you will find a lot about what happens when you specify multiple styles for an element. It's a tricky matter, so there is quite some articles written about it. Your example is rather simple, as the styles doesn't even overlap.

If you set the class on the table, you don't need to set the class on every cell in the table also. You can specify style for cells inside a table with a specific class:
table.tree th { height: 25px; }<br />
table.tree td { height: 25px; }
or
table.tree th, table.tree td { height: 25px; }

Im looking to show the user an HTML table with about 8 rows. I want them to be able to customize the order by moving rows up and/or down in the table, then be able to send the newly-ordered list (array, string, whatever) out via a form submit. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
