I tend to disagree with your assesment (if I am decoding it correctly...). I believe that Java is not near as fast as .NET and in my opinion (at least running MONO in the WIN32 environment) MONO is faster than .NET... Please don't flame me for that statement people... I meant no harm by it...Sniff | :^)
