Being extremely comfortable with XML, I'm finally learning some SOAP.
I know the following is a SOAP request, but can someone shed some

First your soap request and responce is packaged as a standard HTTP request and responce that is the first set of data in both of your samples.
Then internal to that you have a "data" section that is that meaningful part.

Is there any way SQL server,oracle can talk to each other,perhaps XMl can fit here but how do you pass data generated by oracle in XML to sql server.

(I could not find an HTML forum, so I'm posting here.)
I would like to disable the conext menu for my web page. I can handle the onconextmenu event without any problems by adding oncontextmenu="return false" to the BODY tag.
The problem is that if I have an ActiveX object embedded in the webpage (specifically the IThumbCtl control), right clicking on the object invokes the IE context menu. I've tried adding oncontextmenu="return false" to the OBJECT tag, but this does not work.
Can anyone help me disable the context menu completely? I'm using the IWebbrowser2 control.

I have created a web page contains four frames. Three of them are HTML and the other one is XML formatted by a XSL file. I used some anchors in it.
The problem is,
When I use Internet explorer5, the anchors works very well.
But Internet Explorer5.5 and 6, they don't work. And it's really strange that when I display the XML file seperately, it works well again.
Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem.

Does Netscape support XSL stylesheets????
I have a page here (you are lucky to see this):
XML page on website
It is XML linked to an XSL stylesheet that seems to work on IE but netscape just displays the XML tag contents one after the other without formatting. Am I missing something that nescape needs to tell it that what its reading is XML with XSL stylsheets?

The media type in your XSL reference is wrong. There's no type "text/xsl". The XSLT standard tells to use either "text/xml" or "application/xml". According to RFC 3023 "application/xslt+xml" might be used in future, but it's not yet registered.
Mozilla/Netscape tends to be much stricter about following the letter of published standards than MSIE.

I do not think with the information you have provided an answer can be given. What is the the data source? A spreadsheet is a little vague. Even an Excel file is to vague. What form? Tab Delimited? XML?
What do you want to display all the rows and columns cells definitions? or just a selected block. Now if you have saved the Excel file as XML you can transform that into something else, say an HTML table of selected rows. Unless you add a solver, you are not going to get the results.

If I save the chart in a new worksheet, copy the object and paste it into Paint, I get a bitmap which is something I know how to handle. Anyone have a clue as to how to make code do this?

Hi all,
I have started working up a set of C++ functions to access the MSXML DOM through the COM interfaces, having scoured the CP articles and other on-line tutorials. Finally, I have some functions that do what I need to load an XML, traverse it, update it, and write it back out.
The problem, though, is that when I use 'save' and then go look at the XML file, I get something with no new-lines. Everything is on a single line. While the file looks just fine in the web browser, I thought one of the attractions of XML was that it was ASCII and could be easily edited.
While this is true, it just doesn't look very good in an editor, as there are no line breaks. It can be edited, but it really needs a lot of reformatting before it can be usable.
Is there another function or something I can call that will give me at least a little formatting?

I have a very nice answer for you. In the web site from Microsoft XML, there is XML Notepad, just try it, is a fancy tool (still in beta version) .. but it looks good..

Keep in mind that all of that formating is contained in nodes of the parent element(s). If you are not adding those text nodes along with the rest of the element definition you add or working with them with the existing definitions, your process is what is leaving them out. Not the DOM.

I'm not sure I understand that. Actual formatting can be done with XSLT to get a revised file, typically an HTML file, but that is only based on several examples. If I want to get something that looks like (with newlines):

[Data2]Here is data[/Data2]
[/Node1]
what I end up with is (no newlines):
[Node1][Data2]Here is data[/Data2][/Node1]
Even if I just type this into an XML file (with appropriate headers, etc) I can physically enter a newline at the end of each line, and that is what I am missing from the DOM.

It has been a while since I've done any work with XML but from memory there are options to control how newlines are handled. This wasn't with the MSXML stuff, but I think it is a common issue. Have you had a look to see if there are any options or flags which may resolve this?
Beware that if you are interested in working with larg'ish XML files that MSXML can be a dog, in that it uses memory like there is no tommorow and runs very, very slowly.

Yes, It makes child nodes for everything. So long as it fits in memory version 4 is much faster than 3. For large files SAX parsing is usually preferable than a DOM parser.

In short yes.
Question: Just from a first pass. It appears to me that in your creating the edited file you are skipping "text" nodes. All formating will be in text nodes of some element.
In your example you are keeping the single text node that is part of element Data2. i.e. "Here is data". However you are loosing the text nodes that belong to the element called "Node1". Please note that you have an element called Node1. It has at least 3 child nodes one of which is the element called "Data2".Prior to the child element of Node1 called "Data2" is a text node that has a linefeed/carriage return and 2 spaces. You then have an element node called "Data2" which is then followed by a text node which is ended by a single linefeed/carriage return.
Have I lost you here? To keep things striaght one must be careful what a child node is. One type is an element.

where the EOL text nodes are effectively "hidden" because they only show up as the newlines?
I guess that makes sense, but it sure isn't what I thought it should be. This, of course, is only of use if I really do need to look at or modify the file in an editor. If I just use the web browser to view the file, none of this matters. And, if I only access the file through the application, then none of it matters.

First my appoligies for not being a better writer. I am not getting the story across very well. An element is a node but a node may not be an element. or a node could be an element. It could also be text, processing instructions, comments, etc.

you have added child elements to the element called node1. What is missing are the child nodes that are not elements, not adding more elements. I guess it has been to many months since I stepped through the MS DOM model.
What I did to finally get a better feel of what was going on in the MS DOM model was to create a simple dialog app that when a button was pressed created a MSDOM instance and read in a XML file. I then added code that found the root element of the document and sent it to a function that would get the list of child nodes and looked at what types they were. When I found a node that was an element I recursed back to the function. It helped me see all of the items that were existed. I am not sure if I have this save or not.
I left it there and concluded for my needs the class I had written worked fine and I would use it for any manipulation of XML files. I do use the MS DOM to read in files as well as some of the Apache code.
