i checked the html and it isnt rendered this is because
list.Visible = "false" initially, this was so the control was hidden until a link was clicked.
when i set this value to true initially the javascript error doesn't get thrown.
i wanted this control to be hidden initially, and then set its visibility=true from
javascript once the link is clicked, is this at all possible?
ive tried sitting it inside a div setting the div's visibility to hidden but it just stretches the div

If you set the visiblity property to false then the control is not rendered at all hence you can not reference it.
You will have to add the display: none CSS style to the control and then change that trough javascript.

Can any of you guys advise what I'm doing wrong here? I'm new to this, so I'm just finding my way around the design view on the form.
I've filled two datasets on form load - one being Employees, and the other Departments.
I've got Employees and Departments on separate tabs on a form. The Departments are in a grid, and the Employees on a simple data form.
On the Employees tab, if I press Save, every field updates the MS Access table - except the combo box which is what I'm doing to select the employee department.
I've typed some entries, in Access, into the Department field in the tblStaff table - and these entries are being retrieved fine.
The datasource is 'objdsCompanyDetails.tblDepartments'
The datamember is 'DepartmentName'
... and this is correctly displaying my list of departments.
I've tried all sorts of combinations in the Binding section of the properties window, but I can't get this field to update the Access mdb file.
Help! Something so simple is driving me nuts!!

hi,
i've created a simple MP3 player that takes over .mp3 files by registering a new filetype. It works fine for single files but if i select multiple files it opens every file in a new player. How can i fix that?
I have a code to determine if there is another player allready opened, if so the program closes itself, but i can't figure out how to send a mp3 file path to the opened player so it can add that file to the playlist.
I tried sending a message (System.Windows.Forms.Message), before closing the player so that it could be cought with the IMessageFilter by the opened player but i don't know exactely how to do that so no luck there..
please help..
Thanks.

In my opinion, you should load all multiple file that you select in any list view and loop it one by one to play in your player.

... i am a perfect newbie in VB 6.0....
my question:
I have maked a milion applications in VBA for Excel, now i would want
to convert my VBA project i VB classic.
... admitting i have a useform crated in VBA, how can import this
userfornm without error in a project in vb 6.0, or before to import in
VB a must convert it?
Existis a utility to convert Usreform VBA>VB classic?
Have a sugggestion?
Or other way...
my problem in effect is.. to use VB for serious application.

There really isn't a conversion tool for this that's worth anything. You're best bet is to recreate the form from scratch. You can probably get away with copy and pasting code between the two, but in most cases, you'll end up rewriting it anyway. There are objects that you use that are either not available in VB6 or are available, but the code is represented differently and must be rewritten anyway.

hi
i am working with project in vb.net, in this project i have to give a interface to end user in which he can change properties of each controls in runtime, for example, in a stock master form there is one label with text property 'Stock Code', for some customers it should be 'Product Id' and for some others it should be 'Part No.', so i put a button in every form called customize, so that user can click on this button and one child window will com, in this window i have placed a propertyGrid control, with this user can easily click and change properties of each control, thats fine. but how can i save this changed properties accociated with this form/user to disk and reload it next time? , i need a fast way to do this, because i dont want to slow down my form load because of this. somebody told me about binary form serialization, but base windows form class is not serializable, so i can't serialize a form.
i think somebody can help me to solve this problem...
waiting for replay..
thanks in advance

Since neither the Form nor the Form's Controls collection is Serializable, you'll have to implement some kind of collection yourself. Serializing the entire form is just overkill if all you're doing is changing the text of a few labels.
First, what are the properties you're allowing the user to change? Are you also allowing the user to add/remove the number of controls? What types of controls? Are the properties you're allowing change to common between all of them? Once you have all these questions answered, you can create a class and collection manager to hold this information. This is where you can add your own serialization support.
Google for "custom collections vb.net" for examples.

Hi, I've got a problem with the border styles to be chosen: I don't want to have a border (because I don't want the top bar -the blue bar-), so I chose without a border. My problem is that when I maximize the form, it occupies the whole screen, ie. the taskbar disappears behind the program. What I want to do is that it is like a normal maximized window, but without the top bar.
I'm not sure I've explained myself very clearly, but anyway... Can someone help me?
Thanks

Hi,
I think you'll have to implement the maximize yourself. The Screen.PrimaryScreen.WorkingArea property will give you the area without taskbar etc. In multi monitor environments you would surely not go onto the PrimaryScreen but you would have first to locate the correct one with Screen.FromControl .

Hi,
How do I change an Imagebox's Z-Property?
Currently, on the vb.net form, there are a few Imagebox controls. By default, the Imageboxe added later will block the rest of the imageboxes when they are placed on top of each other.
e.g Imagebox3 will block Imagebox1 when they are placed on the same position in the form.
Currently there are 4 imageboxes on the form. How do I make Imagebox3 block the rest of the imageboxes and for imagebox4 to block out imageboxes 1 and 2?
Is it possible to change each control's z-property individually?
|
|
|
|
|
The form designer has a move-to-front button. move image box 4 to the front, then image box 3.
---
b { font-weight: normal; }
|
|
|
|
|
So its something like
Imagebox3.BringToFront() 'Covers all other imageboxes
Imagebox4.BringToFront() 'Covers all imageboxes except for Imagebox3
Is it correct?
