What component are you using to get data from your Scanner? You may have to see if your scanner's component has an event that fires before it sends data.

Hi,
There is no component used as such.When i attached scanner to USB part and in my app when i set focus on any text box and scans any bar code text box itself gets the data guess its default behavior.
I dont have much idea about any component. I have been looking for some solution from quite some time on google also but till dat i havent got anything.I could find that input comes in the same way as it comes via using keyboard using virtual keyboard.Also i captured the windows messages being fired in both cases(scanner and keyboard) but they were also same.

hello everybody in this forum.
i need to ask one question.
i had implemented multicast chat room to connect to multicast enabled ip address and on a specific port.
that's ok......
actually all users will be connected to that chat room who will connect to that ip address with that port pair.
but what if i wanted to create multiple chat rooms .
does that mean i will use multiple ip addresses and multiple ports for creating multiple chat rooms or it is only one ip address and port pair that i will relay on but with additional coding ?????

Hi all,
I want to mark a blocked ComboBox with the "Cursors.No" curcor symbol but in the text area of the combobox the cursor changes always to Ibeam independent of the controls cursor setting.
What's to do to change this behavior and get a cursors.no symbol on all areas of the control ?

Hi,
try assigning the cursor type to System.Windows.Forms.Cursors.No in the MouseMove event handler for the combo box. This should solve your problem

Hello,
I am building a simple auto-update component to my application that downloads the latest exe file (depending on the version) using the WebClient class and a webservice to get the URL. The download works fine but I am currently saving to the All Users\Application Data\My App folder but not all users have write access to that folder, resulting in a failed download. Also my app saves some config details in an xml file in the same folder, and again this is raising an exception.
I'm thinking about using the Current_User_ID\Application Data\My App folder instad as I know I'll have write access, but I don't really want the exe to be stored there as then it will be part of the user profile, which I don't want. Also, the xml config file that is created is machine-specific, not user specific, so that def can't be part of the user profile.
What would be the best way to do this? How do apps get around the problem of folder permissions when performing auto-updates? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
By the way it's for XP and 2000, so I can't just use XP BITS for the updates.

hi
i use access db as database in c# (oledb) and my app was worked good . i decide add two field to my access database. how to reflect these changes to my c# app . when i add two gridcolumnstyle to my datagrid for new fields,those are not show values,and when i select mapping name of gridcolumnstyle in design time,these two fiels do not visible .. how to do that and solve my problem ??

Hi all, we have a web based tool which is able to store images we create here. Now the problem is that most images are made in CMYK model. When you want to show such a jpeg, IE and FF just fails to do that. When you open the cmyk image with any other program (mspaint, photoshop, ...) you see the image is there. If you convert this image (i used photoshop) to RGB model it shows fine.
For example here is a cmyk image[^] and here is the rgb image[^] created after photoshop conversion.
So now is the question: how can i convert a CMYK jpeg to a RGB jpeg to show it on my website? Is there a way in GDI+ to convert CMYK JPG images to RGB JPGs?
Please help me out on this one please!

there is one free control imageEdit . search on google and download that. in dot net this type is not supported and you can convert this image through that control programatically and use it . the code for convertion is very very simple. so you can explore it .

I have the following question: What do I need to know to create an own TextBox like control with special features. After researching TextBox control I think that a customized version of it won't do what I need.
It shouldn't be very sophisticated but I don't really know where to start and if I can do it in a feasable time. How difficult might be implement such a control?
Do you know about any such samples or tutorials?

I need to place a combobox next to each line. Different background color for each line, line numbers, well fonts, font colors etc. won't be bad but are extra features not really needed for now.
I'll compare it to the code editor in Dreamweaver 8, something similar with a few more features but it is not a "code" editor so I don't need synatax highlighting for example.

You have to create a custom control. Derive your conrol from the standard System.Windows.Forms.Textbox and Override the methods you want.

Well, thank you! I know that already. What I don't really have any idea about is if font drawing, text handling etc. is difficult and if writting such a control will consume huge amount of time.

This is like asking "How long is a piece of string?". Basically its going to depend on so many factors such as how proficient you are with coding. How well you know the control classes, and derived controls. How many extra features do you want.
As a hint, it will take even an experienced programmer upward of a day to develop a reasonably complex control. 5 developers could work for a few months on a really really complex control.

I have migrated a project from VS.NET 2003 to CS.NET 2005 that uses a lot of UI and I use a main form that updates and changes after a selection is made in the main menu.
The problem is that only on one of the screens I use the menu reverts to the left side of the screen even though it is defined as RightToLeft = RightToLeft.Yes .
I have tried to put that defenition everywhere I can and nothing worked.
The only way I was able to move the menu back to the right side of the screen was by adding another empty and disabled menu item:
MenuItem m = new MenuItem();
m.Enable = false;
this.MainMenu.MenuItems.Add(m);
The problem is that it deals with the symptom and not the problem.
Does anyone knows why it happens?

I've got a Singleton instance of my class(A) that contains the functions for filling (passed on)datasets using 1 of 2 resident data adapters: the default adapater(A1) (for executing queries that will not be updated back to the database), and one for specially created and monitored for the query(A2) (that can be used to update data back to database). This all operates using delegates and call backs to the calling class'(B-Z) method. The database is hosted on the internet so, i need the delegation so the ui threads are not waiting for the data to return from the server.
What i'm not sure about is how the lock() will affect my program flow and what will happen when i lock the singleton instance A. At this stage i'm only locking the A1 adapter instance. I want to lock the whole instance of A so that other data requests don't interfere with the current data request.
Will it lock(A) the lock the instance in use by other classes in other threads or should i rather use a single line queue for data filling/updateing?
I would appreciate if some can enlighen me.
