Hi all,
Currently I am developping a C# web service in which it acts as a proxy server for internet access & navigation.
It is supposed that the web service should receives requests from mobile devices clients such as cell phone or pocket PC then it should send back the WML pages for the clients. By the way, the clients application will be J2ME application. Anyone can help me by ideas or resources for that ?
Thanks you very much in advance.

Hi,
I am looking for an open source helpdesk system to use in my work place. It is a small organisation with about 150 - 200 users. I want the system to have a client for the pocket pc so that technicians can log and updated calls when they are out of the office, and have them synced with the helpdesk when then return to the office. Does anyone know if such system exists and if so, could you send me a link to it.
Thanks

On the free end of the spectrum, have you looked at Microsoft's Smart Client sample app TaskVision?
http://msdn.microsoft.com/smartclient/codesamples/taskvision/default.aspx
It's very basic, but you have the source code if it doesn't do enough.

How can I discover the UUID of a Windows CE5.0 device from C++ ?
If I select Start/Settings/System/System Information the device displays some info including the Model, processor type etc etc . At the end of this list is a UUID which I guess is unique to the machine. My question is how can I discover this UUID programmatically from C++ ?

Hi all,
I just want to import a native C++ dll to my .net compact framework based project.
I created a MFC statically linked project.
The following code was put in the
"testDLL.h" file.
extern "C"
{
__declspec(dllexport) bool TestFromDLL(int x)
{
if(x ==1)
return true;
}
and i imported the built .dll to my C#->Smart Device -> Device Application 1.0 like:
[DllImport("testDLL.dll",EntryPoint = "TestFromDLL")]
private static extern void TestFromDLL();
however, the MissMethodException also pop up
Anyway I already added the reference path.
Is there any problem with the decorated name, or what type of MFC dll should I chose? Shared MFC dll? Extension dll?Or there are other problems?
Thanks a bunch for your help.

This is my very first .NET posting to the Code Project! and it definitely won't be my last.
I would like to build a handheld app that allows communication between other handhelds, presumably via bluetooth or I some other similar wireless protocol. the app will communicate and collect data via that process and then upload that data to a server via a web page.
I am a c# programmer but have absolutely no experience with handhelds. I have VS2005 and SQL2005 loaded on my machine and have already started working with both.
I'm working on a project that collects profile info via a normal web site and then will download that info to a handheld for communication with other handhelds.
Any idea where to start would be very appreciated. Thanks!

I'm working on a diagramming application for PocketPC/Smartphone devices and I'd like to see some feedback from other developers on what would make such a program a "must have". If interested in checking it out and talking about it, a demo version can be downloaded from here:

Unfortunately, Microsoft didn't think it was necessary to include RichTextBox in the .Net CF (not even V2.0). You're going to have to use a custom control (either of your own making, or if someone else has already done the work for you). Since RTF files are just text files with some markup, it's just a matter of reading in the text file and interpreting the RTF codes.
Another problem lies with actually displaying the RichText-formatted text. Like I said, since the NCF doesn't have a RichTextBox, you might try using a Graphics object to draw the text to a control (of course, you'd have to draw it one character at a time, but printing RTF to a printer is pretty much the same way). The BIGGEST problem is that you would only be able to DISPLAY the text, not modify it as well.
I ran into the same frustration, with a PocketPC app I started a while ago. The most we all can do is either use PocketWord, or cuss at Microsoft for not including the RichTextBox control.

I am sharing your frustration. The web browser is included in CF 2.0. For my purposes, however, I don't want to use webBrowser because webBrowser then calls PocketWord and thats not very pretty. I am hoping i can figure out some way to display word type files using the OpenNetCF Inkx control, but I haven't gotten very far with it.

I have placed to following code in the "Load" method of a form with a dataGrid1 object added. When I run the application and after a small delay the data grid shows a small box with an arrow in the upper-left corner but it does not display my data. Does anyone know why this is happening?
private void Authors_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DataSet dsAuthors = new DataSet("authors");
string filePath = "/Storage Card/authors.xml";
dsAuthors.ReadXml(filePath);
dataGrid1.DataSource = dsAuthors;
}

Hi all, I have a application run in O2 Xda IIi Pocket PC (speed 520MHz) where I will update the image of the picture box every minit.
My code is like below:
void DisplayMap()
{
Bitmap MyImage1;
if(picCar.Image!=Null)
picCar.Image.Dispose();
MyImage1 = new Bitmap("C:\car.jpg");
picCar.Image = MyImage1;
}
My problem is sometimes the application will hang! I have debug this and find out that when reach 'new Bitmap', it will just hang, or sometimes pop out System.IO.FileNotFoundException:FileNotFoundException
where actually the file is exist!
Can anybody help me on how to dispose a picturebox image properly?is it a bug of .NET picturebox?
I had also run the same application in O2 Xda II (Speed 400Mhz) and O2 Xda II Mini Mobile Handphone PDA limited edition (Speed 416 MHz), and it is no problem at all! Will it be the speed and RAM problem?or graphic processing?
Thanks.
