I am working on an application that has different features built in for parsing traffic logs for the television broadcast industry. Marketing wants to sell each feature seperately or as a full package. What would be the best way to turn on and off these features short of having to do seperate builds for each of them. Also if at a later date the customer wants to add features to his existing software without having to send them a new build.:->

Hi guys and gals!
I am using C# (VS2003.NET) to create my PPC application and SQL CE as my database back end. I have a little app that captures information on my mobile device. How can I sync my PPC data with a SQL Server 2005 Express DB on my server?
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi!
How can I create a program that works just like a normal Windows Service for Windows CE?
I need the program to autostart when the operating system loads, and to do its work without making the user aware of it.
thanks!

Hi -
I've been bangging my head trying to implement the auto-comple functionality for a combobox. The feat is easy in the fullblown .Net framework using selctionstart, selectionlength and findstring properties and methods, but neither is available in CF. I even believe .Net framework 2.0 has a autocomplete property.
Can anyone please help.
Thanks.

Hi all,
Have an application developed using evc++ 4.0 accessing flat files. Works fine in WM2003SE based handheld but performs sluggishly on WM5. I noticed that after using the app even when I exited all applications, the memory used does not go back to its original state. Example is before I use my app. My available memory is 40MB. While using it, it's 38.5MB. After leaving my app, its still 38.5. It only happens in WM5. Can anyone help me with this? Many thanks.

Currently, I am trying to implement a COM into CF 2.0
I've already implemented and registered the DLL successfully. But I always get a "NotSupportedException":
<br />
Type objType = Type.GetTypeFromProgID("MacroCOM.dll);<br />
object oAct = Activator.CreateInstance(oType);<br />
object[] parameter = new object[1];<br />
parameter[0] = 5; //long<br />
objType.InvokeMember("MCOMConnector",BindingFlags.SetProperty, null, oAct, parameter); //this lines executes the error<br />
Any solutions there? TIA.

Greetings:
I have a pretty simple application running on a Fujitsu Siemens 720 using Windows CE.NET 2003. I am developing with Visual Studio C#.
The main form of this app has nothing but button controls. However, one button leads to a new form that requires the simulated keypad. So that form loads creates a menu for itself and this gives me the keypad. So I pop up the keypad, enter my stuff and click the "Accept" button which brings me back to the main window form. But the keypad has not folded up and gone away! It is still there and it is blocking buttons on the main form. Yes, you can close it by poking the keypad icon at the lower right of the display, the keypad closes then. But I would like it to go away automatically when it is not needed.
Question 1: Why did it not go away when I closed the form that created it.
Question 2: How do I get rid of it?
Thank you in advance!
Mark

1: I do not know how it works with the .Net dialog classes, but the MFC ones does not bring it down automatically then closed.
2: Use SHSipPreference(m_hWnd, SIP_FORCEDOWN) (or equiv) somewhere apropriate.

If "sip" is your keyboard form --
private Microsoft.WindowsCE.Forms.InputPanel sip
then
sip.Enabled = false;
will remove it from the screen. Is that what you are looking for?

Hello all. I'm in a hurry, hope you can help me.
I had to change the color of the entire system (Intermec 730 with Windows CE.NET). That is, change the color of the buttons, background, highlighted text, etc. For that, I just had to open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE key in registry, and under such key, modify the SysColor field, which is a large binary object. Then I have to soft-reset my PPC so that the changes are available. I already did that. The thing goes well using a Symbol, HP and Compaq machines. But the thing is not working under Intermec's.
Any clues to this behaviour? I've been analysing it, and it seems that after a soft-reset (warm reset, warm boot) the registry key is resetted up with its original values, as if a hard-reset (cold reset) were performed.
Any clue, any idea will be really apreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Fernando.

"Interesting" approach by Intermec...
Thanks for the info, I will save this incase I ever have to work with such a device.

Hi !
I have a problem to certify my Pocket PC App made with .NET Compact
Framework against the "Designed for Windows Mobile Logo". It requires
to delete all created registry keys after uninstall, which I can't
achieve. I found some informations about a Setup.dll at this address :
http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/setupdll.html. It seems to be what I
want but I don't know anything about C++
Furthermore, I noticed that even the .NET Compact Framework doesn't
delete its registry keys after uninstall (keys in
"\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\Microsoft .NET Compact Framework" always stay
after uninstall). It seems that Microsoft wants us to do what they say
but not what they do (and it's the same for SQLCe 2.0 and every other
program I've tested) :p
Here is a list of the keys created during install :
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\CabFile
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\CmdFile
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\InstallDir
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\Instl
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\InstlDir
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\InstlDirCnt
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\IsvFile
And here is what remains on my Pocket PC after I uninstall my program
with Active Sync or the "Add/Remove program" :
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\CabFile
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\CmdFile
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\InstallDir
- \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\<mycompany> <appname>\IsvFile
So my question is : is it really necessary to delete these keys to get
the Windows Mobile Logo ?
Thanks in advance.

I have a RAS Client running on Windows CE device. When the RAS Client
authentication failes on the remote server the modem connection is still up
and I need to re-authenticate the Client to establish the communication with
Server.
The way I do that right now is that, I drop the modem connection and redial with
the new Client credentials which will re-authenticate the client and possible will establish connection.
I would like to know if I can re-authenticate the client without droping the
modem and redialing.
What are the mechanisms to do that?
