Hi i'm creating an app because my pda has been power drained to often.
Now i want to create an application in which i can make it suspend or turn off based on power levels and also based on selected bateries.
Now i can read out the batery status(es) in vb.net (took me a while but it works now).
I now am into the problem of setting suspend/shutdown action to the PDA device. how to do that ??
it should be done trough vb.net 2003 code.
------
Any help will be great, it will become a free application. As i can imagine more people have those powerdrain problems with PDA's.

you might be using this but OpenNetCF takes care of the levels of the batteries in a couple controls.
OpenNETCF.Windows.Forms.BatteryLife
OpenNETCF.Windows.Forms.BatteryMonitor
OpenNETCF.Windows.Forms.PowerStatus
It does not include a way to power off the device. If your problem is memory loss get a Mobile 5 unit and a backup battery to switch out.
hope this helps even if it does not fix your problem.

Thanks alltough i don't know about openNETCF (new to me).
My problem is not reading out battery status, i can do that
(there's a sample on the MSDN site which allows one to program that).
my device is a asus 620BT, it has no backup power, and looses everything, each time. Since the included auto backup software doesn't work allways.
While Asus doesn't seam to do anything about this, i allready have heard more people with this problem. So then came the idea of monitoring power and when below xxx% switch the device of. Perhaps with BeeB or somehing like that.

Hello all
I was testing an application developed for Pocket PC 2003 into other PDA with windows mobile 5.0. However, I found a problem. When I opened the serial port (a GPS port) for the first time it works well. Even when I do it in a second time. But at the first time the CreateFile function fails, giving the following error:
"The network resource or the specified device are not longer available"
and I have to soft reset the PDA to be able to use that port again.
After that, I tried with commercial applications for PocketPC and I found the same behaviour. Finally, I decided to try with the TTY sample of the Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC SDK (specially designed for this OS) and it happens the same!
Any comments or ideas?

Hi All!
I use RemoteDataAccess in my application. To get new data from sql server 2000 I use Pull method. Here is some problem: i must drop table before rda.pull method starts. Sometimes problems with connection occur and i lose data. I decided to make backup database and if it needs, i must get data from this database. At first I return DataTable object from backup base received with query "select * from tablename". At second I create table in working base. Then I want use DataAdapter object (Fill method) to create DataSet. I want make infill dataset (necessary table). But code doesn't work. Here's my code (newTbl - datatable from backup) :
Dim myAdap As New SqlCeDataAdapter("select * from tbl", myConnection)
Dim ds As New DataSet
myAdap.Fill(ds, "tbl")
Dim i As Integer
For i = 0 To newTbl.Rows.Count - 1
ds.Tables(tbl).ImportRow(newTbl.Rows(i))
Next
myAdap.Update(ds.Tables("tbl"))
Here's no errors, but table in working base has not rows. Help with advices!!! Thanks!

...and most notably their back color property.
I'm using the following code to create instances of picture boxes and display them on a device running PocketPC 2002.
Dim myPic As New PictureBox<br />
myPic.Location = New Point(32, (picCount * 35))<br />
picCount += 1<br />
myPic.Size = New Size(53, 35)<br />
myPic.Text = "newPic" & CStr(picCount )<br />
myPic.BackColor = Color.Black<br />
myPic.Text = "HERE" & picCount <br />
<br />
'---add the button to the form<br />
Me.Controls.Add(myPic)<br />
As you can see there are no images in the pictureboxs right now, that in inconsequential regarding the problems that I'm having right now, basically my problem is simply that the pictureBox control will not reflect that its backColor property has been changed to black. Is this a known issue with the .NET CF? Or am I not creating the control correctly?
Big thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,
We have a database application written in Borland C++, and using Interbase, Now we need to add 3 pocket pcs to the system. I couldnt find a way to connect database from pocketpc so I made a webservice in c#, I am connecting database from webservice and getting data from webservice to pocketpc. Is there a way to directly connect to database from pocketpc.
Because when I use webservice and run the webservice. Other clients cannot connect to the database, I get error another process is using the database file.
In webservice I am using firebird/interbase NET provider.
thanks

Hi Experts,
I have a DLL built in C++ and am trying to make it work on PocketPC.
I created a project and build the DLL for PocketPC: in VS2005
New Project--->VC++-->Smart Device --> Win32 Smart Device Project (Platforms
choose "Pocket PC 2003" and Application Settings choose "DLL")
and the DLL was successfully built.
Then i created another project, to built a application in C#:
New Project--->C#-->Smart Device (Pocket PC 2003) --> Device Application
in the application, i used
[DllImport("MyDLL.dll", EntryPoint = "MyFunction")]
private static extern bool MyFunction(......)
The 2 projects were built in one Solution.
When i tried to "Deploy Solution" under Build, i can find that only the DLL
was deployed into the device. I need to "Deploy DeviceApplication" to deploy
the application.
After i deployed the DLL and the application,
i debug the application, at the place when i call MyFunction, there is error:
Can't find an Entry Point 'MyFunction' in a PInvoke DLL 'MyDLL.dll'
I also tried to use:
[DllImport(strDllPath)]
in my application, but i have the same error.
On Desktop, the DLL and the were called in the same way and worked well
before.
The function in the DLL was implemented as:
extern "C" bool MyFunction(......)
{
}
and it was exported in DeviceApplication.def
Does any one has any idea why i have this problem and how can i solve the
problem?
Thank you very much!
Vic
Thanks!

Can anyone tell me, how I can obtain adoce31.tlb, required to build the contribution: "Porting Carlos Antollini's ADO classes to the Pocket PC ( J P Figueira)" ???
|
|
|
|
|
If you don't have adoce31.tlb, you can replace it with adoce31.dll:
#import "C:\Windows CE Tools\wce300\Pocket PC 2002\dataaccess31\target\arm\adoce31.dll" rename_namespace("ADOCG") rename("EOF", "EndOfFile")using namespace ADOCG;

Thanks a lot. However I am using eVC++4.0 and when attempting to build J P Figueras AdoSample, it is complaining about the COle classes. When including afxdisp.h, I get the message: Can't build MFC OLE projects using static MFC libraries. Of course defining _AFXDLL brings up Unresolved External WinMain.
Do you know any way to get this running with eVC++4.0?
Thanks a lot

Hi. I have a Combobox "Type" and have the list there. I want to show the results of the entry from the combobox into a text.
For example,
I pick "Fruit" from the combobox.
I want to display on the screen: "This food is a Fruit"
If I pick "Vegetable" from the combobox, it will display:
"This food is a vegetable"
Right now, I'm getting:
"This food is a 2"
How can I make the 2 into Vegetable?
This is what I have, and I have a feeling it has to do with the GetValue and/or GetOrdinal.... I just can't seem to get it to work....
TypeLabel.Text = rReader.GetValue(rReader.GetOrdinal("MovieType")).ToString();
Thanks as always... Sorry for such a dumb question.

Hello,
This is the first time I've posted anything, but I'd like to thank everyone for all the wonderful infos they have posted. I realy have learned a lot.
I am working on a program that has been modified from Brian Nash's "Compact Framework Movie Collection Manager". He (and I) uses SQL Server CE and C#, but I would like to add an image to the database. Basically, all I want to accomplish is that an image is displayed for a particular "Movie ID."
I searched on the internet and found the following snippet:
1. Create Database - did that -- no problem.
2. Create Table using ExecuteNonQuery()
string sqlCreateImageTable = "CREATE TABLE Photos (photoID int IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL,"
+ "name nvarchar(50) NULL, photo image NULL)";
Added this, no problem (no errors)
3. Read bytes of Image from FileStream
FileStream fs = new FileStream(photoPath, FileMode.Open);
int photoLength = (int)fs.Length;
byte[] photoBytes = new byte[photoLength];
int n = fs.Read(photoBytes, 0, photoLength);
Not sure where to add this......
4. Insert Image into Sql Ce
string connectionString = @"Data Source =\PhotoAlbum.sdf";
SqlCeConnection oConn = new SqlCeConnection(connectionString);
oConn.Open();
SqlCeCommand oCmd = oConn.CreateCommand();
oCmd.CommandText = "INSERT INTO Photos (name, photo) VALUES (?, ?)";
Added this, no problems (i.e. no errors) here.....
oCmd.Parameters.Add("name", label3.Text);
oCmd.Parameters.Add("photo", SqlDbType.Image).Value = photoBytes;
Added this, but since I don't have an image, I don't see anything. (??)
oCmd.Prepare() ;
int rows = oCmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
oConn.Close();
But it doesn't seem to work quite well. I am having problems in Step 3..... (particularly photoBytes)....
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I'm too vague, I'm sorry. I'm a newbie at this C# thing and am just starting with SQL stuff. I've been mainly an HTML/Perl/CSS type of programmer. This is, by far, the toughest code I've worked on. Don't cut me down for my lack of knowledge!
Thanks,
M.
