Teaches me for not checking the Download section myself.
Well, that's about the only FREE component. Everything else charges $,$$$.
You can find a nice list of them here[^].

I have to create this report that displays as follows
Product_ID Sale_Value Cumulative %_of_Totalsales Rating
---------- ---------- ---------- --------------- ------
1 100 100
2 250 350
--------- --------
ToTal: 350
So I want to know how to calculate the Cumulative inside Cristal reports in order to get the % --> PercentageOfSum(,)
All this time I was doing this in C# and inserting the results to the data set but this is very inefficient
Please Help --- IT Is Very Urgent

I am currently following a book on how to sign assemblies with strong names in order to register a serviced component in the into the COM+ catalog and some errors are occuring.
My AssemblyInfo.cs file currently looks like this: (of importance is the AssemblyKeyFile attriubte)
using System.Reflection;
using System.Runtime.CompilerServices;
using System.Runtime.InteropServices;
using System.EnterpriseServices;
// General Information about an assembly is controlled through the following
// set of attributes. Change these attribute values to modify the information
// associated with an assembly.
[assembly: AssemblyTitle("StepByStep7_1")]
[assembly: AssemblyDescription("Retrieve and update data from the Northwind database")]
[assembly: AssemblyConfiguration("")]
[assembly: AssemblyCompany("")]
[assembly: AssemblyProduct("StepByStep7_1")]
[assembly: AssemblyCopyright("Copyright © 2006")]
[assembly: AssemblyTrademark("")]
[assembly: AssemblyCulture("")]
[assembly: ApplicationActivation(ActivationOption.Library)]
[assembly: ApplicationName("NorthwindCS")]
[assembly: AssemblyKeyFile(@"..\..\..\70320.snk")]
// Setting ComVisible to false makes the types in this assembly not visible
// to COM components. If you need to access a type in this assembly from
// COM, set the ComVisible attribute to true on that type.
[assembly: ComVisible(false)]
// The following GUID is for the ID of the typelib if this project is exposed to COM
[assembly: Guid("2d37557e-b619-4092-80e4-4a30e2978021")]
// Version information for an assembly consists of the following four values:
//
// Major Version
// Minor Version
// Build Number
// Revision
//
// You can specify all the values or you can default the Revision and Build Numbers
// by using the '*' as shown below:
[assembly: AssemblyVersion("1.0.0.0")]
[assembly: AssemblyFileVersion("1.0.0.0")]
When I build the application I get the following error:
Use command line option '/keyfile' or appropriate project settings instead of 'AssemblyKeyFile'
Can anyone help explain why this error is coming up? The build itself actually does succeed, however it is giving me hassle when I come to register the serviced component in the COM+ catalog. I am presuming that it is because of the error in the build?
I would be very grateful to anyone who can help in order that I may move on in the book as I have just got a second wind to return to my studies and want to make the most of it while it lasts!!!
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
The way of signing the assembly with key file is changed.
comment out the line "[assembly: AssemblyKeyFile(@"..\..\..\70320.snk")]"
Right click the project and open the properties.
Click on the Signing tab.
Click the "Sign the assembly" - choose the key file over here and save the project
Compile it.
It should solve ur problem.

Many thanks for your help, worked a treat! If I could ask one more favour, as I am struggling with this at the moment!
I am now trying to register my DLL in the COM+ Catalog. To do this I am taking the manual approach and using the regsvcs.exe tool provided with the .net framwork.
However when I regiser the dll it comes back that I have derived classes found in the assembly and won't register, saying that classes must be public, concrete and have a default constructor. Why is this happening? As far as I'm aware I haven't got any derived classes apart from the serviced component which is required. Below is my code for my class:
using System;
using System.Data;
using System.Data.SqlClient;
using System.EnterpriseServices;
namespace StepByStep7_1
{
public class NorthwindSC : ServicedComponent
{
private SqlConnection sqlcnn;
private SqlDataAdapter sqlda;
private DataSet ds;
public NorthwindSC()
{
// Create a connection to the
// Northwind SQL Server database
sqlcnn = new SqlConnection("data source=(local);initial catalog=Northwind;
User ID = SA;Password = *********");
}
// This method executes a SELECT query and
// returns the results in a DataSet object
public DataSet ExecuteQuery(string strQuery)
{
// Create a SqlDataAdapter object to talk to the database
sqlda = new SqlDataAdapter(strQuery, sqlcnn);
// Create a DataSet object to hold the results
ds = new DataSet();
// Fill the DataSet object
sqlda.Fill(ds, "Results");
return ds;
}
// This method updates the database with the changes in a DataSet object
public int UpdateData(DataSet ds)
{
// Update the database and return the result
SqlCommandBuilder sqlcb = new SqlCommandBuilder(sqlda);
return sqlda.Update(ds.Tables["Results"]);
}
}
}
Many thanks for your help

Hi All,
Can anybody please help me to know where exactly is gacutil tool in Framework 2.0
Is the tool name changed ? Or the concept of assembly version maintenance is changed.
What is backword compatibilty with Framwork 1.1?
(Note :- I am using released version of Framework 2.0)
Thanks In Advance

Hi,
The gacutil is actually only shipped with the .NET Framework SDK and not with the redistributable package.
Hope that helps

Is anyone here aware of any in-memory DB engines that can be used to run simple queries against? I am looking for something that could read in an XML serialized dataset bu then let me run SQL style queries against it. I have been playing around with using DataViews on a DataSet but that does not seem to be as in depth as I would like. I am interested in in doing some grouping and sorting functions so I can run reports against the data I get back.
I could import this data into a local DB like MSDE or maybe even Access (ech) if I really had to but I would love to avoid that if I could.
Otherwise I am kind of stuck writing this query and reporting code myself.

Sorry to take so long to see your message, but investile sqlite as it'll have the features you're most likely to want. There should be a number of wrappers for .NET out there.

I have some code that is written in C# that I'd like to somehow integrate into one of our Win32 API C/C++ applications. Is it possible to call the C# code in any way...through a DLL, or something?
We'd rather not have the API code app spawn a process that has the C# app, which is the only solution we can think up.
Thanks,

You could put a COM wrapper around your .NET class and then open it in your Win32 API app using COM. I have done this before and it works pretty well.

Is there an easy way to clear my recent projects list? I found http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/VSRecentcleaner.asp[^], but that works for VS2003, and doesn't work for 2005. Have they implimented a menu solution, or is there a new registry directory to remove from?
Any advice?

You'll have to explorer whether these services expose any kind of an API for doing what you want. If not, you'll have to download and parse the HTML pages that come back from those sites.
In either case, you'll have to write a module for each of the services you want to deal with, be it by an API or parsing HTML. Each site is going to be different. This means writing each class module by implementing an interface that your main application will require them to use.

I wanted to know how to download the pages and parse it to read the address book using API's and I have already send you the sample application link.
I have done some R & D and came to the conclusion that it is possible using HTTPWEBREQUEST classes in ASP.NET or PHP and CURL.
If anybody knows how to go about let us know!

Yes, you would probably use the HttpWebRequest class. When you get the page, you'd probably use Regular Expressions to parse up the page and retrieve the pieces of information you need. I don't have any examples of it though.

Hi,
Did you have any success with your request. I am also after a solution and am prepared to write several API's/wrappers and web service for this.

I would like to share the knowledge with you that we can do this by using PHP and CURL technology.
So if we want to use ASP.NET then I think it should be possible using HTTPWEBREQUEST and HTTPWEBRESPONSE classes. If you get the solution then let us know!

Hi! I'm trying to invoke some methods from a non-system dll, developed in C. The problem is that I get a MissingMethodException. I've read (here and there) that in PocketPC 2002 this is common because there is a problem with dynamic linking of non-system dlls.
I would really appreciate if someone has a solution for this problem or at least a clue to solve it.
Thanks,
Federico

No that's not possible. Why don't you want to declare it? Probably there is another way for what you are trying to achieve.
