But better than the ratings I think the view-count would be better.
The view count is a proper statistic.

Its not *entirely* useless.
It only becomes useless when you have childish games being played with it. Unfortunately that usually happens when you have new authors posting.
Take Michael Dunn's articles for an example; most of his are highly rated and they deserve it. The really bad part is that I don't need a rating to know whether his articles are good; because I know they will be

Mike Dunn himself was the victim of mass-down-voting.
His article on namespace extensions was down-voted for reasons other than quality.

There aren't many ways to stop voter fraud without inconvienencing Chris or the user though. Off the top of my head
1) Only registered users can vote, and only vote once per article. This requires that a new table be created to match up userids with votes on an article.
2) When registering for CP an e-mail gets sent to the registering person to verify e-mail address and to change the e-mail address a confirmation is sent. Both must be acknowledged by going to a URL from the e-mail with a unique code in the URL.
This doesn't stop someone from registering 100 new users for voting but it forces them to go through more work to do it.
I faced the same problem on another website where I had both ratings and a poll. I was more concerned with the poll though because some of the information gleaned from it lead the organization into different directions.

Yeah. Mike has written some great articles. In my opinion he is CP's second best author, the best being of course Joseph M Newcomer. Nobody nears Joe, nobody.

Oh yes, I think I've read all of Joe's articles I can't say I've done that for any other author, except my own of course.

Having 10 people with the technical knowledge to be able to rate the wide variety of articles posted on CP would be impossible.
It would also create an elite which would be bad news for the website.
Personally, I'd abandon the rating system as it is obviously becoming as abused as the one on MSDN. Even if the ratings were only allowed by registered users, it wouldn't be hard to create fake users.
I say judge an article on the comments posted and on nothing else. If there is a technical flaw with the article people will point it out. If people really appreciate an article they will leave a comment.

The rating is being reworked and I'll be using a system that is far, far harder to abuse, and which will be far more benificial to the article authors.

A related articles list at the bottom of an article would be helpful. Nothing fancy, probably best to use the Search Engine already built to return a list of articles which are related based on the keywords of the current article.
You could say "If you enjoyed this article then you may enjoy these articles:" and then a list, just the titles is needed really.
I always enjoy jumping from article to article, keeping a common theme or thread.

Well, it appears to show some articles from the same category.
The downside is that it takes the category name to use as the title for the box. So you get "Other The C# Programming Language articles" for C# articles :-P [Edit: To me that sounds odd but it might just be me]

I've seen this a few times before, but didn't think to grab a screen shot or post anything about it.
When I load up the Work Issues forum it tells me there is one new post, but the new image isn't showing; I have to change my options so that it shows all posts since the specified date (which I think is the time that counts as new images).
I've put up a screen shot on my website. In the shot you see where I've set it to show me all the new messages, but still no new image.
Just a minor PITA
