Hi,
I read the article submitted by Nathan Ridley entitled A versatile html form mail script for classic ASP.
I'm confused and really need some help! I've spent about 3 hours preparing my form and my email template and I'm unclear on how to change the .asp file.
The instructions say what are required changes, but I don't know where to make those changes in the .asp file or in my form file.
I can see in the asp file where it says:
dim redir, mailto, mailfrom, subject, item, body, cc, bcc, message, html, template, usetemplate, testmode
redir = request.form("redirect")
mailto = request.form("mailto")
cc = request.form("cc")
bcc = request.form("bcc")
mailfrom = request.form("mailfrom")
subject = request.form("subject")
message = request.form("message")
template = request.form("template")
testmode = lcase(request.form("testmode"))="yes"
and i'm guessing that that's where i make my changes, but i don't know what I'm supposed to put or where. Someone please help!!!!
My files are located at www.geeks-ink.com/Clients/kos/application.shtml and www.geeks-ink.com/Clients/kos/kodonnells-application-email.html (that's the template)
Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi, I know I changed the definition of wwwroot$ when I first setup my system but I don't recall how I did it.
Let me explain my configuration and what is happening.
I am developing on a W2K machine using VS2003.net. The webserver (MSP-WEBSERVER) is another machine running Windows 2003 Enterprise Server. Something happened to the webserver this weekend whenever it went to serve up a page it would get memory read errors and crash.
I reinstalled Windows 2003 Enterprise Server and now I don't remember how I had things configured. The Server has two drive partitions C:\ for the OS and D:\development for my development projects. Under development I have additional directories for each project. IE: MCP, Buydown, etc.
I have added D:\development as my default website and added a "Development" website as well and added MCP and Buydown as virtual directories under the Development website. I'm not sure this is how it was configured, maybe the virtual directories were attached to the default website, i'm not sure.
When I try to access the initial signon screen of the MCP project, it displays perfectly (http://dev.merchantsoftwareplus.com/mcp). I signon, click "Authorization" and I get a page can not be displayed (404 error). Looking at the project in VS, it says the path name for the authorization screen is: msp-webserver/wwwroot$/mcp/authorization.aspx. BTW, it took me all afternoon just to be able to open the project, so I'm still not sure I have IIS configured properly, as I'm not able to open other development projects and I haven't been able to create a project.
When I try to create a project it says: The Web was created successfully, but an error occured when trying to configure the application root for this Web. Web projects may not operate correctly without an application root. The returned error was: Active Directory Services can not find the web server.
When I try to debug my project I get an error message saying the project is not configured for debugging, yet it is.
I backed up the configuration of IIS before I reinstalled but once you install, it can't find the backup files. I didn't format either - what good is backup if you can't restore it.
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong and how do you configure this thing? Is there something that I can read?
*** UPDATE ***
I have moved the virtual directories under the "Default Web Site". This allows me to edit all of the projects, however I still can not debug. It says that I'm not a member of the debug group. I have tried adding just about every userid into that group and it still doesn't work. I even tried adding Everyone, still no go. Any ideas? This also did not improve the ability to create new projects.
Thank you,
Glenn

Hi
Thanks for all this...But I had asked about "CheckListBox rather than simple check box....If that one is possible , kindly let me know...
Well We need to make some function that do this and in that function we can write simple routine to display checkbox in a table with number as parameter in order to specify the number of checkboxes in the list to be shown while calling function. Anyway thanks for this...

You can create an array of HTML-checkboxes in a table in the same way, if that's what you want. But you cannot create ASP.NET server controls on the client. By definition, these are server controls, created on the server and rendered along with the page to the client.
The server has no way of knowing what you are doing on the client, so if you create any controls there, the server cannot know about it and won't know what to do on a postback except throw an exception.
cheers

The ASP.NET forum is the right place for this.
momoo wrote: I using .ascx file to design it.
That's a control, which needs embedding on a page to be displayed.
momoo wrote: This is ascx (under html view).
I can't see how writing the text is going to help you - you need to add some sort of control that is databound ( can tell which object it's working on ) and that redirects you to another page.

I have a dropdown box and when a value is selected in that, a javascript function is called which takes the values into a variable and that is passed to the same asp page using window.location='svr_temp.asp?Campus=' +Campus
This variale is caught be request.querystring and that is used in executing a sql query whose result is populated into textbox.But, thre are few probs in this.
For the first time when i select something in dropdownbox nothing is happening in the page and from the second time the value is run against query and the result is displayed in the textbox....but immediately the page is reloading again and all the data in the textbox is lost............please help me in this...........same problem is occuring even if i use document.form.action methos instead of window.location.................

Quick question - how come when using xmlhttprequest object to authenticate a user, when I try to redirect the user who successfully authenticated, to another page by using response.redirect fails?

Hi,
Got a new copy of VS2005, and want to create some asp.net pages using a Master Page Template and content place holders. Evertime I add a ContentPlaceHolder, they are just stacked, and I can not have one ContentPlaceHolder next to another, like all the example show.
I am sure I am not doing something rigt.
Anyone have any ideas?

Strange. The ContentPlaceHolder is just another control on the page. Can't you just put them in a table like so?
<%@ Master %>
<title>Simple Master Page
<asp:contentplaceholder
="" id="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server">
| <asp:contentplaceholder
="" id="ContentPlaceHolder2" runat="server">

Hi,
I'm new to javascript. I want to know that is it possible to place controls on the webpage dynamically from javascript function.
Actually, in ASP.net, we can place controls on webpage on server side. Is it possible to place acontrol like textbox on the webpage in javascript function. If yes, please say how?
