Help!
I would like to know. I am running VS 2005 beta with SQL 2005 beta. When running the Website Admin tool to create roles and users the site keeps on saying enter a different password. I do not know how to get past that.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I have a web site that I open on a remote server over a mapped network drive in VS2005.
It has subdirectories about three or four levels deep, with maybe 100 directories altogether.
When I try to build the web project, I get the following error:
W:\rootdir\subdir\subdir\subdir\subdir\web.config(0): Build (web): An error
occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes
to 'W:\rootdir\subdir\subdir\subdir\subdir' because the network BIOS command
limit has been reached. For more information on this error, please refer to
Microsoft knowledge base article 810886. Hosting on a UNC share is not
supported for the Windows XP Platform.
I referred to the kb article and did what it said, and even restarted the computer. I am hosting on a mapped drive, not a UNC share.
Is there any way around this? VS seems to be monitoring changes on every single directory in the web, which is a large number of connections.
If I try to "Exclude from project" all the files I don't need ASP.NET to deal with, they get renamed with a ".exclude" extension - which is worthless.
Arrrgh!

Can I use asynchronous call to a web service without a callback function(null)?

Hi,
When we are using XmlHttpRequest to get and submit data with the webserver, please advise what would be the modus operandi to handle concurrent requests.
We would be using a syntax similar to
req = new XmlHttpRequest();<br />
req.onreadystatechange() = function()<br />
{<br />
<br />
}
This req object would be erased before it the function returns for the next call.
How would be go about declaring dynamic req object in JavaScript.
Any pointers...

Keep in mind the behavior of closures in JavaScript. The anonymous function declared in this manner:
req.onreadystatechange = function()
{
}
will still have req in scope as long as it exists (which is for the life of the actual request).
So, you could do something like this without problems:

I'm doing a project on C# web application. I need to design a web page and a search engine. I need to design a search engine using the calendar to select the particular date we have click. I have drag and pull the calendar icon. Anyone could tell me the code that if i select on the date i've choose it will show me the database. Anyone who can help me with this. i added a combo box on page have two values "NIC" and" Passport NO".i want that when user select nic nic form field display and when passport select passport no field display in same on same position. Initially both fields are hidden.how i achieve this task

Create a virtual directory under the IIS, and map it to your application, and then pay for a domain name, and try Microsoft windows 2003 server[^], and configure it .

Hiya all.
I have an issue with Internet Exploer which I was wondering if others had experienced as well.
I have a page which loads in a number of thumbnails. These thumbnails are placed in some div tags which are hidden (display:none;visibility:hidden;) - when clicking a link they are then shown. Simple - if it weren't for Internet Explorer.
For some reason - possible because the page is to large, or something I'm not sure - IE doesn't show all thumbnails when the div is made visible again, instead you have to right click the image and choose "show image" which then loads in the image.
Have others experienced this behaviour and possible found a solution which doens't involve me having to recode the page (which I likely will have to because of this :/)
The "error" is not there in FireFox nor Opera, only in IE.

Well, it depends on your needs - the two styles have different effects. visibility:hidden; will hide the element but still allow it to occupy space in the layout, while display:none; will prevent it from affecting the layout as well as hiding it.

Yes, I know the difference between the two, but our designer usually just uses both at the same time, so I've adapted the habbit.

There's no include directive in the ASP.NET like the classic ASP does so that you can use to include the html static page in a web page .aspx. So there are a couple of options that you might consider:
+ Use the classes defined in the System.IO namespace to read the html file and write the contents to the web page .aspx
+ Use the web user control .ascx, you simply copy the content of the html file in a web user control, and include the control in the web page .aspx.
+ Use the Server.Execute method to execute the html page, and write the output markups to the web page .aspx
