I confirm Uwe is very smart. Among other things, he's amazingly good at selecting the greatest tools that make him more productive !
( And I don't say that because he's my client )

Thanks, Serge . Although it was more or less a joke in my original message
What I'm rather bad in is to deal with problematic customers. I just experienced that yesterday again. Must improve that!

i would say a couple of the programmers (there are only 5 of us) are as smart as me, while i am not so sure about the smarts of the other two.
as for some of the other people i work with regularly, it sometimes seems the rarefied atmosphere of management level causes the brain to work more slowly

I've worked with a full spectrum of skill levels - from the amazingly brilliant to the founders son that got glassy eyed and confused when it came to the difference between RAM and a hard disk "because they're both memory".
I would be curious to know 'how smart do you like your co-workers to be?'
For me, I consider programming to be an artistic skill sort of like painting.
If you're a halfway decent "bowl of fruit" still life painter, would you want to work with the likes of Rembrandt[^] or a Home Depot house painter[^]?
No offense to the depot, I spend quite a bit of time and money there
I like to be challenged to learn new ways of thinking about the solution.
How about you?

I think a more interesting question would be "How smart do your co-workers think you are?"
"You're obviously a superstar." - Christian Graus about me - 12 Feb '03
"Obviously ??? You're definitely a superstar!!!" - mYkel - 21 Jun '04
"There's not enough blatant self-congratulatory backslapping in the world today..." - HumblePie - 21 Jun '05

Quite smart, and the important thing is, they can share their knowledge and experience to me. We need co-workers whom we can learn from.

I smiled for a bit after reading this survey.
Casuse I am working all alone in my project for the past two of years.
I love to answer this survey. But not now........

I also work alone. Some times I do things so stupid I kick myself, and other times I do things that work out so well I have to pat myself on the back. So I answered "Some smarter, some dumber".

In both cases you are disturbing your body. .. Just for a joke.
Honestly, i always shows stable techinical potential and logic tactic throughout my work. So normally i won't do bad coding or desiging. But obeviously the flexibility of the code will be depended on my mood. The above sentence is borrowed from a managerial talk.
And best on me is, it is very tough and rare for any testing team to find a bug or design issue on any of my work. The above sentence is borrowed from a friendly talk with testing team.

I sympathize, now try it for another 12 years and see how you feel.
I find talking to the hardware engineer on the project (if there is one) very helpful. It is amazing what ideas they may come up with, that lead to a simple solution (even if they don't realy understand the problem, from a coding perspective).

Hmmm! What is the ridiculous part? The fact that you have only worked by youself for 2 years or the fact that I have always (over 14 years) worked by myself.

Hello Sreejith,
I cannot fully agree with you that you are working alone in a project. Is it a project you are doing for you yourself (with all decisions, design, architecting, coding, testing, deployment all yourself) ? And are you the sole user of the end product of the project? If yes to both these questions, you may be probably correct.
I believe, since humanbeings are social creatures, nobody can work alone.
I hope you understood....
