I have set the boot device as the following order. 1. CDROM. 2. Floppy A:. 3. Hard disk. 4. From network. But when I first start the computer, it usually boot from the network. Unless I restart the computer again then it start to boot from the hard disk drive. I'm sure that when I exit the CMOS I already save the change to the configuration. But when I turn off the computer the computer and start it again. I try to check the battery and i found it run goods (the clock run correctly). In my opinion, if you want to change the meaning of the message box which appear when the user perform any action in windows, you should know which file that implement this task. I think it is the function which build in windows which store by the file system. If it is possible, try to use Resource hacker tool[^] which enable you to view and edite the Win32 file system. Vasudevan Deepak Kumar19-Jun-05 19:30 Vasudevan Deepak Kumar 19-Jun-05 19:30  Hi there: I posted a similar thread to Hardware and got the resolution like 'Windows Update would not interfere with Hardware Settings' and hence since my problem now I think is zeroing on with my Windows XP configuration only and hence posting to OS Forums. The problem goes like this. I am forcing my system to autodetect the speakers and it does. But the moment the system reboots then it seems to forget the old settings and then I had to again make it detect. Any settings are getting lost? I did cross check with system time etc to verify and eliminate any CMOS Battery interferences and everything else seems to be ok except for this strange bewildering problem.
