If you meant redirect him after login to the same page that he was in ?
Then use:
RedirectFromLoginPage(); Method in the Authentication class.

If you remotely know C++, then you're wasting your money. Why do PHP anyhow, are you being forced to ? What's wrong with ASP.NET ? MySQL is pretty crappy too, although it's free for non commercial use, MSDE is just plain free, and kicks it's ass.
I recommend reviewing your architecture of choice, if you have a choice, and then buying some books and asking questions here.

I am using PHP/MySQL because it works well and is easy to learn. I need to get a real estate information system on-line ASAP. If I had the time and big bucks I would go with Coldfusion.
Years ago I used MS Sequel Server version 4 with C++. The code was difficult to maintain without ample training and due diligence. I heard MSDE is a much better database but then I have to go down the MS road again.

The main problem would have been ADO. You think that using a crappy database will help you here ? I doubt it. Does PHP provide a dedicated layer to MySQL ? I doubt it would be as rich or useful as ADO.NET is.

And that's bad because ? ASP.NET is simply the only viable choice for web development. PHP was good in it's day, but that day is long gone. ASP was and is a hack. J2EE is just too complex and hard to use. ASP.NET is totally killer, and really easy to learn to use, not to mention that the web abounds with info.
In all seriousness, I guarentee I could develop this site for you in C#/ASP.NET/MSDE much faster than anyone could do it in PHP using MySQL. I think you're making poor choices here, not least because your background in C++ actually empowers you to learn the best web development platform ( and it's totally free, unlike MySQL, which costs money in this case ( unless your real estate information system is theoretical or totally non-profit ).

OK, I'll admit that as he did not specify this, I assumed he was using Windows. I have no idea how far along Mono is, although I thought it was in a usable state, I would do serious research before trusting it. Obviously, there would be no MSDE support.

Normally I wouldn't disagree with much of what you say in reagrds to programming...you've helped me countless times in C++...
However...that statement clearly suggests to me...you have no idea what your talking about when it comes to web development... 
Anything you can do in ASP.NET I can do in PHP...not nateively maybe, but i'm sure there is a library or something written in PHP which allows you to do anything you can do in ASP.NET and in some cases better...
PHP so I understand, is the most popular scripting language around...and for good reason...perhaps the source I got that from was being biased...but IMHO...PHP seems to power most web sites...
PHP scripts are a dime a dozen....for anything you can think of...there are atleast a dozen scripts available ranging from "amatuer coder" to highly "skilled professional"...
PHP I would argue is just as fast in execution if not faster than ASP.NET by virtue of the fact it's OSS and has so many eyes looking at it making optimization changes and the Zend engine likely being written in C for a Linux system. I'm not sure how the two compare byte for byte but in all honesty how can a Windows system execute as quick as a cut down *nix machine running only the required software???
PHP lacks in some RAD/Development areas...like it's OOP support is poor, but that's ok...PHP5 is alot better...besides PHP usually attracts more experienced Linux developers...
There is a definite lack in quality IDE's...I still sometimes use VC++ 6.- IDE 
Other than that IDE fact...I would still very much so prefer to use PHP...
BTW-Hosting is half the cost...
As for MySQL? You can use other databases...quit easily...however there are some mega major web sites (so I understand) which are currently using MySQL...so it can't be that bad...

Of course, because 'most' sites are written by people for their own use. Look instead at most big and/or commercial sites, and what do you find ? A lot of J2EE, a growing amount of ASP.NET, and some classic asp, for older sites ( like this one ).

You're talking about the speed of *nix vs Windows, this has nothing to do with PHP/ASP.NET. Mono will even this playing field, assuming such an advantage exists. REsponse times are fast enough that I care more about maintainable sites than fractions of a second.

This is my point, this is the reason I'd suggest that someone with a C++ background especially learn ASP.NET instead of trying to learn PHP.

When I looked into it, there was no stored procedure support, and it costs money most of the time, most people who use it are probably stealing it.

No, I just know more about the areas I focus on. I'm sure there are CP equivelants in PHP, but I've never seen them, because I don't use it, I use ASP.NET because I'd hate to have to write sites of the size that I work on without the support it gives me. Not because I can't, but because the better the tool, the easier it is to manage complexity.

ASP.NET from what I can tell has an advantage for the beginner programmer...thats for sure...
As for the seasoned developer...so long as you keep track of new developments and libraries written in PHP and wicked cool new projects...you can really speed up development time without even using a fancy IDE, etc...
p.s- I have yet to find a CP eqivilant for almost anything I enjoy...this is a real amazing unique community in that sense...even for programming stuff

I developed an app that worked fine. I then proceeded to make a change. The change essentially allowed certain frames to be loaded with different aspx pages depending on user actions. Well, after trial and error I got the dynamic frames working. Now however controls seems to be in limbo.
the two frames in questions that are loaded dynamically are shown correctly but they don't seem to be communicating.
Here is the basic structure of the app
-Mainframe - defines 4 frames
-All frames will be dynamic at some point (same frame different aspx pages loaded into them
-What happens in one frame effects what happens in others
-Using sessions variable to communicate information
Tough problem to explain I'm Afraid, but if you have any insight I would appreciate heraing from you.

In JavaScript how do I assign a value (window.idForm.idVariable.value()) to a session variable in the Global.asa file? I guess the real question is how do I use ASP code in a JavaScript function?

When an ASP poage is requested by a user, the code is executed on the server and the resulting page is then sent out to the client as an HTML page - so it is perfectly easy to assign an ASP-value (so to speak) to a javascript variable/function (simply enclose you ASP code in your javascript within the usual code delimiters), but as your javascript is going to be executed on the client, you cannot do the reverse without a postback to the server - sending the value you want to use in the QueryString and then extracting that in your ASP code to do whatever you want.

Hi all well I have to make an ASP for a company wich goal is to produce dynamics reports on the fly by querying a sql server database. The project is to let the user create is own template of report by drag/drop fields name on a webpage (more or less like Crystal Report), then the template must be save in order to produce later dynamic report... I have lot of questions to ask, but the first are these one :
- do U know how generate excel spreadsheet on the fly (Excel is not on the server no component can be buy and the spreadsheet should have 3 or 4 sheets with fomulas and a pie chat on the last one)?
- do U know an asp script which do what I want?

I'm using a CHTMLView, which embeds an IE WebControl using IWebBrowser2 interface and i'd like to expose my app's automation server to the control beeing embeded.
To be more precise, my app is hosting the IE control AND is an automation server and i'd like to tell the ie control where is the automation server or how to use my automation methods in vbscript/javascript

My name is Christos Mavroyiorgos. At present, I’m a student at the University of Patras and I have to construct a tool and environment that someone could use in order to draw and construct charts as part of a process of designing a software system. Some examples are UML Class Diagrams, Data Flow Diagrams, and Entity Relationships Diagrams.
The technologies that I use in order to implement it are the following:
• HTML
• XHTML
• CSS
• PHP
• JavaScript
• XML
• DHTML
• DOM
It is not necessary to use all the above but most of them.
Main functionality should be that someone could Drag and Drop, Resize, etc the drawing elements.
In addition to the main functionality of drawing the charts at the client side, a model(?)and a construct should be developed (with PHP) so that the user of the tool could be able to save the graph and call it back at a later moment for editing (I think this would be server side interaction).
I would appreciate very much to know whether anyone could help me in order to carry out this project or give me hints , ideas and advise, in a step by step process, by having a close collaboration or even taking charge of the whole project and implement it on my behalf ?
In any case, I would like to hear ,as soon as possible on any conditions and terms you consider to be necessary for any kind of collaboration in order to meet the demands of a successful project.

Christos, if you want your degree/ diploma or whatever, you really ought to earn it yourself. Asking for ideas and advice is one thing; getting someone else to do your work for you is another. If don't want to, or are not capable of, becoming a programmer, I would suggest you find some other way to earn a living.

Sorry, this isn't really my field, but I can't help wonder why you want to develop this as a web application - it sounds like it would be more suited to a desktop app, and as such could be relatively easily accomplished in Visual Studio, using VB or C# or whatever other language you like.
Use the right tool for the right job - makes all the difference!

Wow - any sort of charting app will require some pretty complex JScript, and work on a limited subset of browsers. As such, if you're targetting IE6, why is it that you need to use PHP ? I think your teacher is an idiot. PHP is useless in the real world, that is to say, you won't be getting experience that will help you find a job.
No matter what, this is the wrong project to be implimenting as a web app.
