Unfortunately, that's the only way your going to get it into a string. You'll have to use a TextBox, then grab the string out of the TextBox's .Text property, which returns a string.
If you don't want to use a TextBox, you COULD put together a some kind of string builder code using the keyboard events of the form, but you're card reader has to generate some kind of preamble, and possibly postamble, that your handler code can recognize so it knows the keystrokes that are coming down next are parts of the card data and not someone just typing in other parts of your form.
You might want to check into a card reader that connects to the serial port instead...

Really? Then why am I looking at Form.KeyDown, Form.KeyPress, Form.KeyUp?
Set the forms KeyPreview property to True. Then, you'll have to come up with code, in the forms KeyDown event, to remember keystrokes until it sees card reader preamble, whatever that may be. For there on, it has to remember all the keystrokes until a set number of characters are read or a card reader postamble is detected.

You should have some sort of drivers for it, maybe an install located online? … Once you find some drivers, I would recommend using the Monroe OPOS Common Controls with the .Net wrapper for interfacing with it. They are pretty much the standard for windows Point of Sale applications.

What do you mean by "that works"? Theres no intuitive reason to expose a double-click event on a ComboBox. You can't double-click one of the list items because a single click will select the item and display it's text in the TextBox portion. Double-clicking in the TextBox portion should select the text of the word you double-clicked,if editing is enabled.
What do you want this double-click to do and when?

OK say the combo box is empty and you want to add a new item in the list of the combo box so you double click the box this opens a seperate form that allows you to add new item to the list which when this is done then comes back to the form is not only in the list but is the one the combo box is set to ...

Well, the ComboBox doesn't really support a DoubleClick event. Why not just put an "Add" button somewhere around the ComboBox?

lol If I wanted a button I would have not asked the question I can do buttons which I have already done but doing something new I quess is wrong I know how to do it the hard way but I quess there is no easy way.

ClickItem was an event, not a property. There's a HUGE difference...
Handle the ItemActivate event of the ListView. You can then use the SelectedItems property to find out which items are selected.

i have to do a calculator that paints graphs. it shall have 5 inputs (K, X, X^2, X^3, X^4)and a scale changer from +-5 to +-20 it have to go both ways. the cros and the numbers has to be displayed when i turn the program on. and i have no idea on how to do that

Only if your have a modem that supports TAPI. A normal modem won't do it.
On top of that, you'll need a library that wraps a version of TAPI. You can find one on GotDotNet.com.

I have an array of mixed data Integer and string in a variable array I wish to pass to a datagrid, but all the information I find reletes to the use of datagrids with Datasets and datatables. Is it possible to pass data from a two dimensional Array to a replicated image in a datagrid ie col1, rwo 1 to col1 row 1?
I'm really new at this. Can anyone help?

Are you looking for:
DataGrid1.DataSource = Dat_Arr
You'd much better off moving your data to a DataTable object. You'll get alot more flexibility.
