My Nokia 3120 has a game called Nature Park, which is a Tetris-like game. (but strangely, nothing to do with Nature or Parks)
I simply love it.

Hello,
I don't want or need all the extra features that makes life more expensive than it needs to be. Why the hell would someone want snake IX on their mobile phone when they can get a gameboy advance? The phone will never do the job nearly as good then the GBA.
Besides that, why would I want a camera on my PDA or something to take crappy pictures...
To be honest, after you bought a device like that, how many times do you actually use all the features without the intention of fooling around?
This is just MHO.

My kinda device should have lots of features, office, email, games, mp3,
but it should still look like a phone.
blackberry, SE p800,p900,nGage, etc are kinda going away from that.

A device should consist of optional sub-devices.
For example, Nokia should offer separate (but compatible) components for phone, mp3 player, camera, and whatever.
If I needed a new smart phone, I would buy an empty case, insert the old components I still want to use (phone, games), and buy some additional components (mp3 player, bigger screen). Those modular devices could be upgraded every year, without throwung away the still useful parts.

If you could change the form factor, then it could do everything and still fit its form. For me, I like the devices to more than 1 or 2 things, but not everything. Battery life and size are major factors. If you play mp3's all day, will you have power for your smartphone? I need my smartphone to meet my business needs and having a seperate mp3 player is better. Same goes for games, video players, video recorders, etc.
A year from now, when all-in-ones are 1/2 the size they are now...I may have a different opinion!

That's the basic idea of Xybernaut[^] -- you buy a "core" unit and then plug in whatever "modules" you want (or need for that day). Great idea --- too bad they haven't really followed through with it [but still buy their stuff ... please! I took a beating on their stock! Shameless plug!!]
Seriously, though, you can (and should) write software where the "functional" part is completely independant from the "user interface" part. That way you pick only the pieces you need, and you stick them in one (or more) "shells."
Why can't hardware be the same? Snap my "wireless" into my PDA today, or my laptop tomorrow ... it's just a chunk of circuits and an antenna.
(really, buy Xybernaut!)

It have everything (Email and chat, multimedia, communications, Office etc), allows hardware additions, and do all it`s tasks well. A Smart Device should be "Smart"

You've never had a phone with too many features? Or a PDA that you wish you could use as a phone? Or been looking for a watch and wished it would include a phone and camera?
I want your Gadget Geek member badge and slide rule on my desk. And the one in your ankle holster.
cheers,
Chris Maunder

That's true. The current one has a half assed camera, which I could honestly live without. I'm off to the voting booth.

I went to Xt hard core school, and I was taught to like Widgets better than Gadgets.

Well, I voted "everything", but I tend to agree with you. I have very little interest for "smart devices" - life is complicated enough without them already.
