i added a textbox and a button in my form , now i want to type a id in textbox and on click on button i want to display a crystal report , should be display only filter record with that specific id {not the whole record/table} with sql server or access but first choice is with sql server.

Hi, I use VB.Net 2003 to get the data from Ms access and present it on the form. I also build a search form and display the result that is found on the list view. So now I want to make a report on it. I made a decision that I would report in one of that two method.
1. When I click on the report button, the result that found in the list view will publish on an HTML file. Does anyone know how to do that? I want the sample code to do that. Because static HTML is general use on any machine that install windows operating system. The machine that just install windows could be able to open the report file without any specific application.
2. If the first method is not possible, I want to export the data from the list view that I found to Microsoft excel. Here I need the sample code to do that too. Does anyone know how to do that? Please let me know.
If any people know only the resource on the web to solve these two problem I still accept.

There are no known example of using the function in VB.NET. There is a VB6 example in the Microsoft KB -> How To Capture and Print the Screen, a Form, or Any Window[^]. It can be converted to VB.NET code with a bunch of work.

No, you can't. The keys, once created, are ReadOnly. You would have to read the data from the origianal key, remove that key, than create a new key with the old value associated with it.

I'm new to .net but I have spent numerous hours over the last 6 months on a new application for our motion systems.
At this point, I would like to put all Motion controller specific sub's /class’s into one module.
That problem is, that so fare I have only been able to create the activeX link to the controller in conjunction with a form?
(Adding the AxtiveX reference to the toolbar in visual.net and then drag the new tool/control to the form .. and so on ..)
Question:
- Is there a way to add the same reference/control to a module?
- Can I "Include" the functionality of a form (my activeX initialization in this case) to a module or class ?
(Sorry for my incorrect "computer” language)

Depends on the control. Most ActiveX controls require a form to be placed on. You obviously can't do that in a module.

You'd actually be creating a form. In order to add the functionality, your class would have to inherit from Windows.Form. But wait! Your forms are already doing that!

I have written a small program and created a set up and deployment package.
I burned the files to cd and took them to another computer. When I click
the set up file or the .msi file I get the following error message:
This set up requires the .Net Framework version 1.1.4322. Please install
the .Net Framework and run this setup again. The .Net Framework can be
obtained from the web. Would you like to do this now?
When I bought Visual Studio .Net 2003, I downloaded the framework onto my
computer, the one I created the program on. I know the computer I ran the
setup on does not have it. Is there anyway to create a program where the
..Net Framework is not required? When I distribute the application I do not
want to include the .Net Framework because I would like to do it by e-mail
so I want the file size to be as small as possible. I am new to Visual
Studio. I am trying to teach myself. Is there any kind of setting that will make my app not require the .Net Framework? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Only if you write the program in Unmanaged C++. All other languages REQUIRE the .NET Frameowrk to be installed, no exceptions.

Hey people, I am having a really strange issue regarding SQL statements in my VB.NET code. The insert statement i have is
INSERT INTO alarms(hour) VALUES (7)
Now when I run the insert statement in a query from ACCESS it works fine no errors does what it needs to do. Yet, when I try to run it from my programm it says " ERROR IN INSERT INTO STATEMENT". Does anyone have any advice? I could really use it.

I'm not on my testbox or I would double check this for you, but try a space between the table name and the columns list:
INSERT INTO alarms (hour) VALUES (7)
I've found ADODB can be slightly stricter than Access.

give the table name as following.
let "abc" is a table then the qry will be
"insert into [abc] values(........)"

Based on the information that you've given, the correct statement is
INSERT INTO alarms (hour) VALUES (7)
This assumes your database has a table called "alarms" with a column called "hour" that accepts an integer value. Double check the design of your database table to verify this.
Also, we haven't seen your VB.NET code that your running around this statement. What sets it up and executes it?

let abc is a table with coloum x,y,z then the statment
where x is varchar or char
y is a number
and
z is date
will be
"insert into [abc](x,y,z)values("' value of x "'," value of y ","' value of z '")"
if u r using some control to input the values then use
"insert into [abc](x,y,z)values('" & controlnameX.text & "'," & controalnameY.text & ",'" & controlname.textZ & "')"

I'm not the one with the problem, and I'm probably one of the last people on this earth you should be preaching this crap to. I know how to build SQL procedures and how to integrate SQL with VB code.
The person who originally posted the question has not given us enough information to give him a definitive answer to his problem. I told him to go back and double check the definition of the table against the SQL he's using as well as the

I am in the process of updating a VB 5 application to .NET (not just converting, actually re-coding everything). In the previous version, it was possible to Embed an object to a form and view it's contents. I know that .NET removed the OLE functionality and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for a way to mimic the functionality. One of the ideas I have is to use Internet Explorer within the form to display the contents, whether its a picture or text document. I have never worked with this before and do not know if it will actually work for OLE functionality, and if it will I do not know how to get it started. If anybody has any suggestions or can point me to a website, I would appreciate it.

You can use the WebBrowser control. If you just want the viewing functiopnality it's straightforward. If you want to perform more
advanced OLE(inserting objects, getting references to objects and more) it's quite advanced stuff(compared to how it was done in VB6). For more information go to www.msdn.com(microsoft developer) and search for 'Web Browser' and you will find a number of articles about using the Web Browser in a windows form.

so, i've got a datatable with informations from a sql server (column schema). I know that i can save the changes with a DataAdapter, but I need this only when I work with sql statements. My hole application use this solution:

I never need a DataAdapter...but now, i will save the changes in den datagrid. I know that we can save with dataadapter.update but dataadapter needs an sql query.
Are there any solution to ave changes in the datagrid without a dataadapter which needs sql statements?
