Nothing truly important's happened; but on the level of meta lounge humor there're probably a few things you should know what we're snarking about.
Michael Martin set a site record for the number of times his account was banned over a profanity laced rant. This is notable mostly not for the contents of the rant itself but in that it resulted in Elephant and Sunshine becoming stand in's for profanity that would otherwise be banned from the lounge for violating the KSS rule.
Dalek Dave has started a side business selling printer ink over the internet and in the guise of talking about what he was doing promoted it at a level that would've gotten a dozen newbies banned for spamming the lounge.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Leslie Nielsen died, apparently. It wasn't really mentioned though... much.

Wow, welcome back! What have you been up to? As I recall, there were some medical conditions in the family - I hope everything is ok. It's nice to see you back!

I'm looking for new laptops. One for the wife who mostly just surfs the web and watches netflix and one for myself which should be a decent dev machine (lots of ram, ssd etc).

I am waiting for these to appear more readily in the UK (think they are due this week or next)

I'm pretty sure that will NOT fit in a laptop

One of my many reasons why i don't like laptops
1) you cannot hock up the 42 inch + tv on the second hdmi output together with the monitor in the first hdmi output
2)if your card goes to hell(damn you Sapphire) rarely you can change it in your laptop with fair price[true story]
3)Bob help you if your motherboard's chipset decides to retire

Don't buy one. Get yourself a nice desktop pc

Desktops don't travel well. That's why they [laptops] were invented

Or do what I do and have an awesome desktop with a fairly cheap laptop. I remote in to the desktop from wherever I am at and do development that way.
When I am at home in front of the desktop, I get my 4 1920x1080 monitors for doing a multimonitor app that we have, and on the road, I get access to it for its speed in building stuff.
Best of both worlds......

My desktop pc travels very good, all extras included. By my calculations it traveled around 1k miles (if 1km = 1.6 miles)

I've purchased 5 ASUS laptops (myself/friends/family) and they've all been good.

Get one with a battery and a monitor. Without those they aren't much use.

Both excellent suggestions
